Full job description

IHP is seeking Production Operatives for their poultry abattoir located in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire.

Various production operative roles available within all departments - general production operatives through to packaging poultry, butchering and other roles.

Main job description:

1. To ensure that the plant consistently produces product to legal and customer specifications.

2. Adhere to the company Food Safety & HACCP, Health and Safety, Welfare [Primary Production] and environmental procedures.

3. Comply with staff and site hygiene rules as described in IHP Ltd policies and procedures.

4. Work to a set of Key Performance Indicators (including butchering piece work). To produce to the required volumes and quality of product as required by the business whilst maintaining food safety.

5. Ensure ‘Work in Progress’ (WIP) & final product is fully covered (including underside of bottom trays), labelled, strapped and in a temperature controlled area as per food safety regulations.

6. Ensure batch control (including load, accreditation status) throughout production (Intake to Dispatch). Records must reflect batch control measures.

7. Ensure Labelling, strapping and Metal detector procedures are followed. Records must reflect procedures.

8. Complete any delegated documents clearly and in a timely manner which reflects production.

9. Ensure work area(s) is kept clean and tidy and maintain site and welfare (canteens, toilets, locker rooms, communal areas) facility hygiene standards.

10. To dispose of waste (general, recyclable & Bi-products) cleanly and effectively, and where applicable within the law.

11. You have full responsibility for the state of the factory and machinery within your work area. Report any defects / faults to your supervisor

12. To develop yourself to ensure that your training is kept in line with current requirements / legislation. Compete the required training to meet company production requirements.

13. Primary Production: Comply with Animal Welfare, Bio-security and environmental standards and Procedures.

14. Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, managers, visitors and contractors clearly and respectfully.

15. Employment terms and conditions must be adhered to at all times.

16. To provide cover to different production areas when required.

17. Management reserve the right to update job descriptions when necessary.

Any duties (reasonable) as deemed by your manager.

Candidates must be physically fit as manual handling is required in most roles.

Candidates must have Right to Work valid for 2 years. IHP Ltd are not able to provide sponsorship or visa switches

Shifts:

Various shifts available. Shifts between 06:00 to 20:00

Hours: 40-50hours [This will vary and may exceed hours detailed depending on production requirements]

Generally Monday to Friday (occasional Saturday and Bank Holiday working required)

Production times may vary and flexibility is required on the shift times by all staff.

Experience:

Basic food safety training would be a bonus, but training will be given.

Full training provided and ongoing learning opportunities available for anyone with an interest in a supervisory role, Quality Control role, Animal Welfare position.

Rate of pay: £12.71 per hour
