Full job description
We are looking for a Full Time Barperson/Front of House team member to join our hard working team.
Applicants with previous experience of working in the hospitality trade and can be flexible with the hours they can work. Must be over 18 years of age.
- IMPORTANT. If you do not live in Upton upon Severn, then you WILL need your own transport to get you to and from work. Sadly there isn't any reliable public transport system that services the town of Upton upon Severn!
Full time typical hours are 35 - 40 hours per week. We can be flexible to suit your needs as long as they also suit ours?
It is preferred that you have had previous experience in a high volume driven bar/restaurant environment but not essential as full training will be provided.
Ye Olde Anchor Inn is a traditional pub that serves great pub food, we have great feedback, we have been voted "Best Pub & Bar" Upton and are still the only pub in the area to be included in the "Good Beer Guide". We pride ourselves in providing great, old fashioned pub hospitality, great food and great real ales in a traditional setting.
Our pub is well known for its lively and friendly atmosphere tied in with a casual dining experience, featuring steak nights and other special events.
Overview of Responsibilities
· Setting up the pub and restaurant area, being aware of any specials or daily additions.
· To represent the company’s high standards of personal presentation and behaviour at all times during a shift.
· To welcome guests in a friendly and accommodating manner, making a great first impression.
· To exceed guest expectations by serving food and drink in a professional, knowledgeable and accommodating manner.
· To willingly assist guests in other areas – e.g. calling taxis, giving directions, making recommendations and generally anticipating their needs.
· To bring a positive attitude to teamwork, contributing to the smooth running of the whole operation and interacting productively with all departments.
· Dealing with any queries and complaints and referring them to the Duty Manager as appropriate.
· Maintaining a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
· Working behind the bar and front of house as necessary.
· Complies with licensing conditions relating to the supply of alcohol.
· To undertake the accurate processing of all restaurant & bar sales and transactions through the correct use of the EPOS system.
Specific responsibilities
· To report for duty, punctually, wearing the correct uniform.
· To prepare the restaurant and bar for service, following established jobs lists and as directed by the duty manager or team leader.
· To serve food and drink, consistently achieving the required standards.
· To be responsible for cash, cheques and credit cards received from the customer and to account for any open tables at the end of the shift.
· To ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained by following cleaning routines and through ongoing diligence during the shift and in set up and clean down procedures.
· To observe the company’s fire plan and health and safety policy.
· To observe the rules and procedures of the company.

· Proven ability to work effectively without direct supervision.

· A team-player who is personable and has the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
· Able to sustain a proactive worth ethic throughout shifts.
· A polite manner and a calm and professional attitude.
Job Context
The catering environment can be a demanding role, requiring substantial physical effort at times with some lifting and long periods of repetitive tasks. A certain degree of bending, stretching, twisting and constant movement is required and ability to work at a quick pace over meal service times.
A certain level of flexibility is required to cover changes in services, dependant on business levels and requirements.
