OSG Ltd is a family run business expanding due to customer demand from its professional approach to customer service and 1st fix mentality.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician / Life Safety Systems Engineer to join our growing team.

The role involves carrying out electrical installations, maintenance, fault finding, testing, commissioning, and servicing works across a range of domestic, commercial, and supported housing environments.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of systems including electrical installations, fire alarms, smoke detection, warden call systems, nurse call systems, emergency lighting, access control, and other life safety systems.

The role requires a strong focus on quality, compliance, customer service, and health & safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical installation and maintenance works in accordance with BS7671 requirements.
  • Install, service, maintain, and fault-find on:
  • Domestic smoke alarm systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Emergency lighting systems
  • Warden call and dispersed alarm systems
  • Access control systems
  • Door entry systems
  • Domestic electrical repairs, Lights, Sockets, Extractor Fans
  • Conduct inspection and testing works, including certification.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults efficiently.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and reactive call-out works.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and site instructions.
  • Ensure all works comply with current British Standards, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, service reports, testing documentation, and digital records.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, tenants, site managers, housing associations, and members of the public.
  • Maintain company tools, vehicles, test equipment, and stock.
  • Support apprentices and junior engineers where required.
  • Follow all company health & safety procedures, including asbestos awareness and safe systems of work.
  • Participate in out-of-hours emergency call-out rota where applicable.

Essential Skills & Experience Required

  • Qualified Electrician with recognised industry qualifications.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Experience in fault finding and electrical maintenance.
  • BS5839: Part 6 installations
  • Warden Call installation and maintenance – Tynetec XT2, Tunstall & Appello
  • Access Control systems – Came KMS
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Competent in using mobile devices and digital job management systems.

Desirable

  • Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
  • Experience with fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with warden call or nurse call systems.
  • IPAF and PASMA certification.
  • ECS or CSCS card.
  • Experience working within social housing environments.
  • Knowledge of BS5839 and emergency lighting standards.
