HR Manager

Location: London (Hybrid – primarily home based with occasional travel to Head Office and to client sites across London and the South East)
Reporting to: Head of Central Operations

Salary: £30K-£40K

Join a Growing Business Where HR Makes a Real Difference

The Clean Space is one of London's leading commercial cleaning and facilities management companies, supporting some of the capital's most prestigious workplaces.

Our ambition is simple: to become the best commercial cleaning and facilities company, and employer, in our industry. We're looking for a dedicated and experienced HR Manager to join our Central Operations team and help us achieve that ambition by supporting our people, developing our managers and ensuring we continue to build a positive, high-performing culture.

This role has a strong Employee Relations focus and is ideal for someone who enjoys managing complex cases, supporting operational managers and making commercially sound decisions in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Whilst you'll contribute to wider HR initiatives and continuous improvement, this is a hands-on operational HR role. If you thrive on coaching managers, navigating complex ER matters and making a real difference to employees every day, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Central Operations, you will be responsible for delivering a professional, commercially focused HR service across a workforce of approximately 1,300 colleagues working across multiple client sites.

Around 70–80% of the role is dedicated to Employee Relations, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, investigations, probation, TUPE and organisational change. The remainder focuses on HR compliance, manager coaching, reporting and continuous improvement.

Whilst the role is predominantly home-based, you'll be expected to attend our London Head Office and travel to client sites when required to support managers, investigations, formal meetings and business needs.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing complex disciplinary, grievance, capability and performance cases from start to finish.
  • Advising managers on absence management, long-term sickness and employment law.
  • Supporting TUPE transfers, contract mobilisations and organisational change.
  • Conducting investigations and attending formal hearings.
  • Coaching operational managers to improve confidence and capability.
  • Preparing HR documentation including invitations, reports and outcome letters.
  • Managing Right to Work, DBS and HR compliance.
  • Supporting HR reporting, policy reviews and external audits.
  • Working closely with Payroll and Operational Management.

About You

You'll be an experienced HR Manager who enjoys Employee Relations and is comfortable managing a high volume of complex cases within a fast-paced operational environment.

You'll have:

  • A minimum of five years' HR experience.
  • Extensive Employee Relations experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of UK Employment Law.
  • Experience independently managing complex ER cases.
  • Experience supporting operational managers across multiple sites.
  • Strong investigation, report writing and communication skills.
  • A pragmatic, commercially minded approach to HR.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively while building strong working relationships.

Experience in one or more of the following sectors would be highly advantageous:

  • Cleaning
  • Facilities Management
  • Security
  • Logistics
  • Hospitality
  • Retail
  • Or another operational, blue-collar environment.

CIPD Level 5 (or above), TUPE and mobilisation experience would be advantageous.

Why Join The Clean Space?

  • A genuinely influential HR role within a growing business.
  • High levels of autonomy and trust.
  • Interesting, varied Employee Relations work.
  • Opportunity to help shape HR processes as the business continues to grow.
  • Hybrid working with flexibility.
  • Supportive leadership team.

If you're an experienced Employee Relations professional looking for a hands-on HR Manager role where you can make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
