SHE Co-ordinator

Location: Heler Foods Packing, Minffordd, North Wales
Salary: £32,500
Contract: Full-time | Permanent
Reporting to: SHE Manager

CHEESEMAKERS. FUTURE SHAPERS. CHANGEMAKERS.

At Heler Foods, our people are part of our extended Heler Family — the driving force behind everything we do. From crafting award-winning cheeses to delivering service that sets new standards, we work together to shape the future of food.

Rooted in tradition and growing into the future, we’re bold, ambitious and proud of where we’re going next. Every colleague has a voice here — and every step you take helps move us forward.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic SHE Co-ordinator to join our team at Heler Foods Packing, our dedicated cheese packing facility in Minffordd, North Wales.

This is more than a job — it’s a chance to make a real impact by supporting Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability excellence across a fast-paced, BRC AA-accredited site, with support to other Heler Foods sites as required.

Reporting to the SHE Manager, you’ll play a key role in implementing and monitoring compliance with H&S, Environmental and Sustainability management systems aligned to HSG65 and ISO 14001, while helping to embed a positive safety culture and continual improvement mindset across the business.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Assist the SHE Manager in developing policies, management systems and risk-reduction initiatives

  • Support site management teams with task-based risk assessments and safe systems of work

  • Assist in accident, incident and near-miss investigations

  • Monitor statutory inspections and compliance requirements

  • Undertake scheduled and unannounced workplace inspections and audits

  • Support proactive occupational health monitoring, with development opportunities to undertake medical screening

  • Co-ordinate key site roles including First Aiders, Fire Wardens and SHE Representatives

  • Monitor accident, hazard and near-miss reporting systems and communicate findings to drive improvement

  • Support sustainability reporting, including utilities, energy use, waste management and reduction projects

  • Assist during visits from regulatory authorities and key stakeholders (e.g. HSE, EA, Fire Authority, insurers and customers)

  • Highlight training needs and support sourcing of appropriate courses

  • Schedule, attend and support SHE Committee and SIC meetings, including reporting and action tracking

  • Recognise and promote good practice across the site

You’ll work closely with colleagues at all levels, engaging the wider workforce to understand priorities, communicate regulatory requirements and encourage best practice.

ABOUT YOU

We want to work with people who are curious, collaborative and committed to making a difference — people who share our values and bring energy and ownership to what they do.

You’ll bring:

  • IOSH Managing Safely (essential)

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (desirable)

  • An interest or awareness of occupational health and medical screening (desirable)

  • The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied day-to-day workload

  • Confidence to engage with colleagues at all levels

  • An understanding of personal competence and a willingness to develop

  • Membership of IOSH (desirable)

  • Behaviours aligned to our values: Be Better, Be Collaborative, Be Inquisitive, Be Yourself, Take Ownership

WHY JOIN HELER FOODS?

Because we don’t just offer jobs — we shape careers.

At Heler Foods, you’ll find:

  • Strong training and development foundations

  • Clear opportunities to grow your SHE career, including occupational health development

  • A supportive, knowledgeable SHE network

  • A workplace where curiosity and continuous improvement are encouraged

  • The opportunity to make a genuine impact on safety, sustainability and wellbeing

This is a place where you’ll feel empowered to make change — and supported to take bold steps.
