Full job description
Are you an ambitious and driven finance professional looking to advance your career?
Indevor Group, a fast-growing, award-winning business, is looking for a high-calibre and conscientious individual to join our high-performing team. As we enter the next phase of growth, we are seeking talented candidates to help us scale and support the continued growth of the Group.
We are committed to excellence, high performance, uncompromising standards, and success.
This isn’t a role for someone simply looking to pick up a pay cheque or even just build a reasonable career. We are looking for people who want to become part of our story, those willing to work hard, embrace challenges, and help us deliver on our ambitious business plan while having fun and making money along the way.
We value attitude, capability, and experience. Relevant sector experience is preferred.
This is not for the faint-hearted. But for the right person, it’s one hell of a journey.
About Us:
Indevor Group is reshaping the house-building industry through innovation, technology, and a relentless focus on results. Our clients include some of the UK’s leading FTSE 100 companies, and we take pride in delivering solutions that drive real impact.
We’ve built a culture that balances ambition with support, a place where people are challenged to achieve their best while being part of a team that celebrates success together. Our commitment to our people has earned us Gold accreditation from Investors in People and recognition in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025, underlining our belief that high performance and a great workplace go hand in hand.
Role Overview
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing financial control, ensuring statutory compliance, and maintaining the integrity of financial reporting across the Group’s legal entities. This role plays a key leadership function within the finance team, acting as the technical and operational foundation of Group Finance, while enabling the Group Finance Manager to focus on strategic priorities, business growth, and forward-looking financial planning.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-growing, multi-entity organisation, requiring adaptability and strong technical expertise to support businesses at varying stages of development.
Responsibilities:
Group Financial Control & Reporting
· Own and deliver the Group month-end close and consolidation across all entities
· Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent management and statutory reporting
· Maintain robust balance sheet control, including reconciliations and reviews
· Oversee intercompany accounting, including agreements, recharges, and eliminations
· Prepare and review Group cash flow reporting and balance sheet forecasts
Statutory Accounts, Audit & Compliance
· Lead the preparation and delivery of statutory accounts for all Group entities
· Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, advisors, and HMRC
· Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, company law, VAT, and tax requirements
· Develop and maintain Group accounting policies and technical position papers
· Ensure all new and dormant entities remain fully compliant at all times
Group Structure, Growth and New Entity Set-Up
· Support the set-up of new trading entities, including chart of accounts, accounting policies, systems, and processes
· Ensure the finance infrastructure is scalable, controlled, and consistent as the Group grows
· Provide technical input into Group structure decisions, including intercompany arrangements and funding flows
Systems, Processes & Controls
· Design, implement, and embed robust Group finance processes and controls
· Improve efficiency through process standardisation and automation
· Ensure strong documentation of procedures and controls across the Group
· Support the development, optimisation, and integration of finance systems
Team Leadership & Development
· Provide day-to-day leadership and technical oversight to Management Accountants, apprentices, and junior staff
· Act as a technical mentor and key escalation point within the finance team
· Support capability building and succession planning within Group Finance
Business & Board Support
· Provide high-quality financial insight to the Group Finance Manager, CEO, and Board
· Support ad hoc projects, including business growth initiatives, funding, refinancing or restructuring, and due diligence and acquisition readiness (where applicable)
Key Relationships
- Group Finance Manager
- CEO and Senior Leadership Team
- Operational Management Teams
- External Auditors, Tax Advisors and Banks
Key Qualities:
· ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent senior experience)
· Proven experience operating at group level across multiple businesses
· Comfortable working at Board level while remaining hands-on where required
· Strong technical accounting knowledge with a commercial mindset
· Experience of complex group structures, consolidation, and regulated environments
· Construction or property sector experience preferred
· Confident operating alongside an established finance lead in a shared responsibility model
· Calm, credible, and robust when providing challenge and assurance
What We Offer:
- A genuinely senior role focused on high-impact, strategic finance
- Clear division between operational and senior-level responsibilities
- Direct exposure to Board-level decision making
- A growing group with long-term ambition and investment appetite
- Competitive salary and benefits package
Are you ready to become part of something special?
This is not the role for someone who is just looking for a salary, this is an opportunity to become an integral part of a growing business and contribute to our exciting journey. If you’re driven, enthusiastic, and ready to deliver results, we want to hear from you!
