Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Company Accountant to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organisation’s financial health. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in financial management and accounting software to contribute to our company's growth and stability.

Duties

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
  • Support management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Completing monthly VAT returns, Partial Exemption calculations, and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
  • Provide guidance on financial procedures and best practices to other members of staff
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits and prepare necessary documentation
  • Complete annual/quarterly business surveys
  • Fixed asset management

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial accounting within a corporate environment
  • Computer literate
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or train team members in finance-related functions
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in financial reporting
  • Knowledge of statutory regulations related to financial reporting
  • Relevant qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent are preferred but not essential
