Full job description

Activity Coordinator

Location - This role is community based and will involve regularly travel across Buckinghamshire, South Midlands, Leicester and Rutland, meeting participants and employers and attending events and placements.

Help young people discover what they’re capable of and take their next step towards a brighter future.

Are you someone who can bring energy to a room, connect with young people and turn a great activity into a meaningful learning experience?

At AKG Employment we’re looking for an Activity Coordinator to create and deliver engaging experiences for young people aged 18 to 24. From sport and creative activities to technology, gaming, virtual reality, community projects and workplace visits, you’ll use a wide range of activities to help participants build confidence, develop new skills and move closer to employment, education or training.

This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days need to look the same. If you’re creative, organised, passionate about inclusion and motivated by helping young people realise their potential, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll design and coordinate a varied programme of activities that are enjoyable, accessible and, importantly, have a clear purpose.

  • Bring learning to life, creating engaging group and individual activities that build confidence, resilience, teamwork, communication, digital skills and workplace behaviours.
  • Get creative with delivery, drawing on activities such as sport, creative arts, technology, gaming, virtual reality, outdoor activities, volunteering and community projects.
  • Make activities accessible to everyone, adapting your approach to participants’ individual strengths, communication styles, confidence levels and support needs.
  • Help young people recognise their potential, supporting them to identify the transferable skills and achievements they can take into CVs, applications, interviews and conversations with employers.
  • Bring the world of work closer, coordinating employer talks, workplace visits, careers activities, mock recruitment exercises and project-based learning.
  • Build great partnerships, working with Mentors, employers, community organisations, education and training providers and specialist partners to open up new opportunities.
  • Keep people engaged, promoting activities, encouraging participation, gathering feedback and helping participants stay motivated.
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment, where young people feel respected, included and able to participate.
  • Keep everything running smoothly, coordinating venues, resources, partners, schedules, risk assessments, attendance and accurate records.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who can connect with young people and turn ideas into engaging experiences with real impact. Experience within youth work, employability, community development, education, careers, coaching or publicly funded services is needed, as well as a relevant qualification in areas such as youth work, teaching, training, coaching, careers, employability, safeguarding, mental health first aid or facilitation.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience of planning, coordinating or delivering engaging activities for young people or young adults.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the confidence to engage groups and build positive relationships.
  • The creativity to turn recreational activities into opportunities for employability and personal development.
  • An understanding of some of the barriers young people can face when taking steps towards employment, education or training.
  • A flexible and inclusive approach, with the ability to adapt activities for different needs, abilities, communication styles and confidence levels.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to juggle venues, activities, partners, resources and competing priorities.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, digital delivery tools and electronic record systems.
  • An understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, equality, accessibility, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
  • A commitment to participant voice, inclusion and strengths-based support.
