Full job description
Looking for that work-life balance in a stimulating & supported haematology environment?
The post will be based in Blackpool with a 1 in 5 on-call rota to achieve a real work-life balance
Come and be a part of our regional level 3 unit, performing autologous stem cell transplants and treating complex Myeloma, Acute leukaemia and Lymphoma patients
Develop a subspeciality interest in Myeloma, and become involved in teaching, training & research
Live in a beautiful part of Lancashire
The successful applicants can expect:
We currently have 5 specialty Trainees, along with 2 specialty doctors in Blackpool. There is also a team of clinical scientists and nurse practitioners.
AAC Interview date tbc
The role will be on our JACIE accredited regional unit that treats acute leukaemia, relapsed/refractory lymphoma patients, Burkitt’s lymphoma and undertakes autologous stem cell transplants. We believe in treating as many patients as possible at home through our ambulatory chemotherapy unit, with plans to develop on-site patient accommodation to facilitate this. We have a strong track record in research and we are high recruiters to many national trials. Teaching is also our passion and involvement in teaching our specialist registrars and junior doctors, as well as medical students via our growing links with the new UCLAN Medical School, is very much encouraged.
You may be a trainee about to complete specialist training. We understand the challenges that stepping up to the first consultant job brings, and you will be fully supported in that transition. Equally well, you may be an experienced haematologist looking for that new challenge in the next phase of your working life.
Blackpool is situated on the Fylde Coast which has stunning beaches and many quaint towns and villages. There are highly desirable areas to live on the Fylde Coast and in the Ribble valley with property prices lower than in the Manchester area and we offer a generous relocation package tailored to individual circumstances. There are leading schools across the patch with excellent transport links into the Lake District, Manchester and Liverpool.
