Full job description

Join us in pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.

Join a business at the forefront of the future of nuclear medicine. As part of Siemens Healthineers Radiopharma, you'll contribute to the manufacture and supply of life-changing radiopharmaceuticals that enable the early diagnosis and treatment of serious diseases, including cancer. This role offers the unique opportunity to be part of the exciting development of our new Dunstable facility, which is set to become the UK's first 8X Radiopharmacy, with eight times the production capacity of a standard radiopharmacy. Designed with cutting-edge technology, multiple clean rooms, high-energy cyclotrons, and built-in operational resilience, the site will play a pivotal role in expanding access to PET imaging and supporting the future growth of theranostics across the UK. Joining the team now means having the opportunity to shape a flagship facility and make a tangible impact on patient care nationwide

We are now recruiting a Production Chemist to support the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance in a regulated GMP environment.

The role will be based in Northwood (Mount Vernon Hospital) initially but will move to a new site in Dunstable in the future (expected in 2028).

The Role

As a Production Chemist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that radiopharmaceutical production, radiation compliance, Health & Safety, Good Manufacturing Practice, and licensing commitments are consistently met.

This is a shift‑based role, including Saturday and occasional Sunday work (40 hours/week)

Shifts:

  • Early shift: 06:00–14:00
  • Day shift: 08:00–16:00 or 09:00–17:00
  • Night shift: 00:00–08:00

Your Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing radiopharmaceuticals in line with Marketing Authorisations and/or specials licences, ensuring full compliance with the PETNET Quality System and cGMP requirements
  • Cleaning and maintaining cleanrooms and associated equipment
  • Working to a shift pattern that includes weekends, in line with operational demand
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of consumables
  • Shipping dangerous goods in accordance with ADR regulations
  • Collaborating with PETNET colleagues to ensure alignment of operational processes and effective backup across sites
  • Operating the cyclotron particle accelerator
  • Maintaining continuous professional development to stay current with legislation and scientific developments related to PET radiopharmaceutical production
  • Supporting the review and development of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Assisting with site preparation for audits and inspections

Your Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • An HND or higher qualification in a physical science or engineering discipline
  • Good communication skills, including experience in a customer‑facing role
  • Experience working within a GMP pharmaceutical production environment

Why Join Siemens Healthineers

Our benefits include:

  • Competitive salary
  • Pension scheme
