Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) / Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) / Advanced Allied Health Professional (AHP)

Location: Royal Berkshire Hospital Urgent Care Centre, Reading

Pay:

  • Self-employed: £45 per hour
  • Fixed-term salaried opportunities available

Hours: Flexible sessions available across Monday to Sunday, 9:00am to 10:00pm

About Us

The Primary Care Alliance CIC is a GP-led organisation delivering urgent care, same day access, women’s health, cardiovascular prevention and neighbourhood health services across Berkshire West.

We are looking for experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Allied Health Professionals to join our Urgent Care Centre workforce at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

About the Service

The Urgent Care Centre is co-located with the Emergency Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and provides same day assessment and treatment for patients with urgent primary care needs.

The service operates 365 days per year, 7 days per week, from 9:00am to 10:00pm.

Appointments are generally 15 minutes and include both booked patients and patients streamed directly from the Emergency Department.

We use EMIS Web and Connected Care.

About the Role

You will work autonomously within your scope of practice as part of a multidisciplinary urgent care team.

Typical presentations include:

  • Minor illness
  • Acute infections
  • Respiratory presentations
  • Minor injuries (where competent)
  • Skin conditions
  • Musculoskeletal presentations
  • Urinary symptoms
  • Paediatric presentations (where competent)
  • Patients streamed from the Emergency Department

You will be expected to assess, diagnose, treat and discharge patients independently, whilst working closely with GPs and other clinicians when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Current professional registration with NMC, HCPC or equivalent professional body
  • Advanced Clinical Practice qualification or equivalent experience
  • Independent Prescribing qualification
  • Experience working within Urgent Care, Same Day Access, GP, UTC, UCC or Emergency Care settings
  • Ability to manage undifferentiated presentations autonomously
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills

Desirable

  • Minor illness qualification
  • Minor injuries qualification
  • Paediatric experience
  • Experience using EMIS Web
  • Experience using Connected Care
  • Urgent Care Centre or UTC experience
