OSL is an industry-leading software and systems integration company at the forefront of Counter–Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS/Counter Drone) innovation and development. We provide bespoke security surveillance solutions for both civilian and military clients.
Due to rapid growth in the CUAS market and the corresponding development of the Company, we are now looking to recruit a dynamic Field Services Engineer / Simulator Technician reporting to our Field Services Manager.
The Role
This hybrid role will primarily provide FSE expertise to CUAS operations following routine installation, maintaining, testing and evaluating a range of sensors such as radars, radio frequency (RF) detectors, and various camera systems. Ensuring the maintenance and ongoing operation of the Training and reference facility (TRF). The secondary role will act as backfill cover at RAF Odiham providing Simulator Technician cover delivering level 1 & 2 planned and reactive maintenance on the Mk6 Chinook simulator.
Key job requirements and responsibilities:
· First line level of trouble shooting and fault resolution with the ability to work
autonomously as required.
· Responsible for fault finding, maintenance repair and installation and commissioning of
security and/or electromechanical systems.
· Responsible for carrying out software, hardware, basic network configuration.
· To assess equipment performance in both test and live environments.
· To complete technical reports and review technical data and drawings.
· Carry out planned maintenance for the Mk6 Chinook simulator.
· Control the database; ordering and replenishing parts, ensuring parts & spares are
recorded and tracked using the inventory management system.
· Carry out software changes/updates for the Mk6 Chinook as directed.
· Excellent communication and administration skills, both written and verbal.
· To comply with H&S guidelines at Company and customer site premises.
Qualifications / skills and experience:
· A basic understanding of military avionics and electronics, flight simulator will be
advantageous.
· Understanding of radar and RF theory and characteristics.
· Working knowledge and experience of electrical and mechanical systems.
· The ability to work under pressure and comply with strict timelines.
· Ability to work in accordance with HSE and SIA regulations.
· Experience or interest in operating UAS (drones).
· Current knowledge and understanding of the threat landscape, emerging security
threats and vulnerabilities.
· Strong IT skills with proficiency in MS Teams and Office.
· General qualification in engineering, electronics, or maths & science A levels
· Practical skills working within a workshop environment.
· A full UK driving licence with business insurance is essential.
· Existing SC clearance is desirable, ability to become SC cleared is essential.
· Excellent communication skills
· The ability to work as part of a team.
Shift Times
There will be a need for flexibility within the role due to being hybrid working and the ability to flex across the working patterns below is essential.
· FSE – Mon – Fri 09:00- 18:00
· Simulator Technician – Mon – Fri 06:00 – 15:00 & 14:00 – 23:00
