Working around the clock to maintain and enhance the infrastructure that powers homes, business and industries, guaranteeing a steady and secure energy supply.
About the role
Are you someone who likes to go walking in rural and remote terrain? In preparation do you check the weather report and see that its overcast with rain and think, that doesn't bother me? If so, this role could be perfect for you.
As an Operative, you will provide a service to protect the High Pressure Pipeline System within our 7500 km network of gas pipelines.

You’ll also monitor third-party work, aerial sighting response, site and marker post-maintenance, cathodic protection monitoring, and support the in-line inspection programme.
You’ll carry out Safe Control of Operations roles that you’re competent and authorised to undertake including Competent Person for low-risk activities and Working Party Member for more complex tasks. You’ll also support during planned and emergency situations.
What we are looking for
You’ll have experience in maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification work within Engineering and have operated, controlled and undertaken work within Safe Systems of Work and/or under Risk Assessment. We work in hazardous areas, so knowledge of health and safety is key.
In this role you will have the opportunity to be trained and developed to support with the cathodic protection monitoring programme. You’ll be covering different sites across the patch, so expect some travel.
What we can offer you

- Excellent family friendly provisions - maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental leave
- Career progression, professional training and development – including access to LinkedIn Learning
