About the Company
Wudhus Ltd is a family-owned business operating from our HQ in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This is our hub – the home of our national call centre, service desk, management team and stock warehouse.
We are successfully implementing an ambitious plan for the organic growth of our business, which provides installation and maintenance services to residential customers across the UK.
Currently, these include TV aerial & satellite services and residential garage doors.
These services are delivered by a team of technicians, or ‘techies’ as we call them, operating within their own regions. Typically, we have up to 80 or more full-time techies working for us at any time.
They are supported by a customer service, sales and operational team at our head office, handling inbound customer enquiries, quotations, booking, planning and despatching jobs
We’re now looking for an experienced developer at an exciting time for the business.
Job Description
Working alongside our IT & Business Development Manager, you will assist with the development and implementation of applications, software platforms and systems used for both front and back end business operations.
Previous experience of working within a fast-paced, consumer-focused organisation will be an advantage. A cool head, excellent organisational skills, and a diligent approach to work are all essential.
You’ll be the kind of person that can communicate calmly and professionally with people at all levels. This includes dealing with senior management, as well as colleagues who are using the systems on a day to day basis.
Attention to detail will be paramount. You’ll also need to show initiative at times, prioritising tasks and your workload in line with the goals of the business.
You’ll be enthusiastic, positive, eager to learn new skills, and able to thrive under pressure. You will also enjoy a challenge, and be confident in problem-solving using your own initiative.
Who we are after
We are seeking a passionate individual who thrives on building innovative tools using PHP and web technologies. You should have a keen eye for identifying areas within the business that can be automated and streamlined, thereby improving overall efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to review, enhance, and build upon existing codebases, bringing improvements and new features to life. You should have a broad and versatile knowledge base, ready to be applied to a variety of tasks as they arise.
Responsibilities
Development:
- Assist with development and implementation of our in-house applications, software platforms, systems and websites.
External Suppliers & Communication:
- Liaise with external suppliers and partners for ongoing development projects.
Internal Projects & Communication:
- Liaising with other internal departments to assist with continuous improvement and development of the business.
- Proactively assist with our IT & Business Development Manager, relieving pressure and taking ownership of issues where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
The following are essential requirements in any candidate:
- OpenStack development experience.
- PHP development experience.
- MySQL experience
- Web development experience, including PHP, Bootstrap, jQuery, CSS, and HTML .
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple competing interests and tasks, prioritising workload.
- Confident solving problems using your own initiative.
- Eager and willing to learn new skills.
Pay & Benefits
Starting at £30k per annum.
Work a 5-day week Monday to Friday, but with some flexibility for occasional weekend cover. This role will be performed on-site.
28 days holiday (including statutory days).

- Are you able to commute daily to Mansfield, NG18?
- Are you confident in your ability to write a SQL query that retrieves all parts associated with a specific customer from a database containing a table of customers and a table of parts?
- If a manager asked you to update a telephone number and reposition it from the right side of a website to the bottom left, knowing the number is hardcoded in HTML and the website uses Bootstrap, would you feel confident completing this task?
- Can you describe your experience with web design? Please provide examples of projects you have worked on and explain the tools and technologies you used. We are particularly interested in understanding the depth of your practical experience beyond theoretical knowledge.
