Full job description
About the Role
Due to continued growth, IT Fast Limited is looking for another Installation Engineer to join our expanding field engineering team. We’re ideally looking for someone based around Basingstoke, Hook, Fleet or Farnham, but will consider candidates from nearby locations.
Most of the role is installing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite broadband systems, mainly Starlink. We expect Amazon Leo installations to become part of our work as the service rolls out in the UK.
Alongside the satellite work, you’ll handle a range of residential and business installations, including WiFi systems, structured network cabling, CCTV and other networking infrastructure.
This is a hands-on, field-based role. It would suit someone who enjoys working independently, travelling between customer sites and taking pride in neat, professional installations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installing Starlink and other LEO satellite broadband systems, including Amazon Leo as it launches
- Mounting satellite equipment externally on residential and commercial properties
- Working at height using ladders and appropriate access equipment
- Running and terminating Cat6 network cabling
- Installing Ethernet outlets and network equipment
- Installing and configuring WiFi and whole-home mesh systems
- Installing CCTV systems
- Diagnosing basic networking and connectivity issues
- Recommending and installing upgrades where they genuinely help the customer, such as mesh WiFi and mounting options
- Taking installation photographs and completing job documentation
- Giving every customer a professional, friendly service
- Looking after your company van, tools and equipment
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need previous Starlink experience because we’ll train you. We’d be particularly interested in someone with experience in one or more of the following:
- Satellite or aerial installation
- Telecoms or broadband installation
- Data cabling, including Cat5e/Cat6 installation and termination
- WiFi or CCTV installation
- Networking or field engineering
- Working at height
We want someone practical and technically minded who can find a solution when every property is slightly different. We’re also happy to hear from practical candidates with the right attitude who are keen to learn.
Salary and Earnings
The basic salary is £29,000 to £31,000 a year, depending on experience, with a salary review after you pass your six-month probation.
On top of your basic salary, you’ll earn a monthly performance bonus based on installation volumes, plus commission on upgrades and additional products the customer agrees to. On target earnings are £35,000 to £37,000 a year, and you’ll be able to earn more as your experience and efficiency grow.
Safety, quality of work and customer satisfaction always come before installation numbers.
What We Provide
- Company van and fuel card
- Company tools, equipment and uniform
- Full training, including Starlink installation
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
- Workplace pension
- Paid overtime and weekend work available by agreement
- Chances to build your networking and installation skills
- Room to grow with an expanding installation team
Hours
This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Start and finish times can vary with job locations, daylight hours and weather.
Working Area
Our engineers work mainly across Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire and West London. We group jobs by area wherever we can to cut down on travel. You’ll usually travel straight between customer sites in your company van.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be eligible to drive under our company motor insurance
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be willing to complete a basic DBS check
- Be comfortable working at height and outdoors all year round
- Be confident using hand and power tools
- Have good customer service and communication skills
- Be able to work independently
- Be reliable, punctual and take pride in tidy workmanship
