Lead Air Conditioning Installation EngineerProgression to Head of Installations

Location: Hampshire / South Coast, with travel as the business expands
Salary: £55,000–£60,000 basic + performance bonus

The Opportunity

The EcoEdge Group has launched and rapidly scaling a new domestic air-conditioning division, and we're looking for an experienced Lead Air Conditioning Installation Engineer to help us build the installation operation from the ground up.

This isn't a standard engineering vacancy.

We already have an established field sales and customer acquisition operation and have successfully completed an initial trial of our domestic air-conditioning proposition. The response has significantly exceeded our expectations, and we are now bringing installation capability in-house to support the volume we believe we can generate.

We're looking for an experienced, highly competent air-conditioning engineer who initially wants to remain hands-on but also has the ambition and ability to help us build, recruit and ultimately lead our installation division.

For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to progress into Head of Installations as the business scales.

The Role

Initially, you will take the technical lead on our domestic air-conditioning installations, working closely with our directors and operations team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing and commissioning domestic split and multi-split air-conditioning systems
• Reviewing surveys and specifications before installation
• Advising on system sizing, positioning and installation requirements
• Establishing installation and commissioning standards
• Developing installation processes and quality-control procedures
• Identifying the tools, equipment, vehicles and materials required by installation teams
• Helping establish relationships with manufacturers and suppliers
• Troubleshooting technical issues and complex installations
• Ensuring installations comply with F-Gas and relevant electrical and industry requirements
• Managing installation quality and minimising callbacks
• Helping recruit and assess additional engineers and installation teams
• Training and developing engineers, mates and improvers
• Supporting and supervising subcontract installation teams where required

As installation volumes increase, we expect the role to develop away from being purely hands-on and towards leading and managing multiple installation teams.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with substantial practical air-conditioning experience who is ready for more responsibility.

You should ideally have:

• Strong experience installing domestic and light-commercial air-conditioning systems
• Extensive split and multi-split installation experience
• F-Gas Category 1 qualification
• Strong fault-finding and commissioning skills
• Good understanding of electrical requirements associated with AC installations
• Excellent installation standards and attention to detail
• Experience leading or supervising other engineers
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong customer-facing skills
• The confidence to make technical decisions independently

Experience with leading brands such as Ariston, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Toshiba or similar would be advantageous.

Previous management experience is useful but not essential.

We're equally interested in an outstanding senior/lead engineer who feels they've reached the ceiling in their current company and wants the opportunity to build something themselves.

Package

£55,000–£60,000 basic salary
