Fitter / Stripper – MET Technician

Job description

Total Motor Care Ltd is looking for an experienced Fitter / Stripper (MET Technician) to join our team at our insurance-approved, BSI-accredited accident repair bodyshop in Sandwich, Kent.

We carry out accident repairs on mainly newer vehicles, following manufacturer repair methods and procedures. We’re looking for a skilled, reliable technician who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of completing repairs safely, accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carrying out all aspects of mechanical, electrical and trim (MET) work.
• Stripping and refitting vehicle components as part of the accident repair process.
• Removing and refitting mechanical components, trims and associated fittings.
• Carrying out tyre removal and replacement.
• Working in line with manufacturer repair methods and Thatcham guidelines.
• Following repair methods and technical information provided with each job.
• Working to manufacturer repair timescales while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
• Carrying out air conditioning-related work where competent and appropriately qualified.
• Performing wheel alignment where competent, with training available if required.
• Maintaining a safe, tidy and organised working environment.

Skills and experience required

• Previous experience as an MET Technician, Fitter / Stripper or in a similar bodyshop role.
• Good knowledge of vehicle stripping, fitting and mechanical components.
• Understanding of manufacturer repair methods and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A reliable, organised approach with good attention to detail.
• Own tools are essential.
• Full, valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications: ATA accreditation or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant automotive discipline would be preferred.

Air conditioning experience and wheel alignment knowledge would be advantageous.
