About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Field-Based Electrical Maintenance & Fire Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll carry out installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, fire detection systems, and portable fire extinguishers across a variety of commercial and industrial sites.

This is a field-based position requiring travel to client premises, so flexibility and autonomy are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and maintain low-voltage electrical installations in accordance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • Test, service, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems to BS 5839-1 standards
  • Carry out inspection, maintenance, and recharging of fire extinguishers in line with BS 5306-3/8/9
  • Complete and submit accurate reports, safety documentation, and compliance records
  • Diagnose faults and propose appropriate corrective actions
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety procedures and fire safety legislation
  • Ensure all jobs, maintenance or remedial works are attended to where possible, escalate to your line manager and the office if delays or difficulties are encountered
  • Practice good housekeeping onsite and in vehicle
  • Identify quality of work, rectify any mistakes that have occurred

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • FIA Qualified in Fire Detection & Alarm System Design / Maintenance (or willingness to obtain)
  • BAFE SP101 or equivalent qualification for extinguisher servicing
  • Valid ECS Card or CSCS Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the fire and security experience
  • Basic IT knowledge, e.g. software installation into Windows Operating Systems, IP based systems, and networking principles
  • Demonstrates a logical and highly competent approach to the installation of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
