Full job description

About the Role

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Small Works Fire Alarm Engineer to join our team, undertaking installations, modifications, upgrades and remedial works across the UK.

We are looking to establish regional Small Works teams across the UK, with engineers potentially allocated predominantly to either the North or South of the country. However, regional allocation cannot be guaranteed, and all engineers must be willing to travel and work nationwide as operational requirements dictate.

The majority of works will be undertaken alongside another engineer as part of a two-person team, although occasional independent working will be required.

At Alarmtec, we recognise that our employees are our greatest asset. As such, we are offering a £4,500 sign-on bonus to new employees that apply to us directly. Half of this joining bonus will be paid upon the successful completion of the probationary period, with the remainder paid following a further two months with the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out fire alarm installations, modifications, upgrades and remedial works.
  • Undertake fault finding, testing and commissioning.
  • Work on conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
  • Work predominantly as part of a two-person engineering team.
  • Ensure compliance with BS 5839-1 and relevant industry standards.
  • Complete accurate job reports and technical documentation.
  • Support wider installation and maintenance activities as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in fire alarm installation and small works.
  • Good knowledge of fire alarm systems and BS 5839-1.
  • Competent in fault finding, testing and commissioning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and stay away from home.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and out of hours when required.

Desirable Qualifications

  • FIA qualifications or equivalent.
  • Manufacturer-specific fire alarm training.
  • ECS/CSCS, IPAF or PASMA certification.
  • Experience working in commercial, retail or distribution centre environments.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
  • Paid door to door travel time.
  • Company vehicle and equipment.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • Varied projects across established national contracts.

If you're an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer looking for a varied role with national project opportunities, we'd like to hear from you.

Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
