Full job description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Security Engineer to join our team here at ABCA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting of CCTV, access control, door entry, and other related equipment. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Duties and responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems in residential and commercial properties.
- Conduct routine inspections, testing, and servicing of security equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults and failures, providing efficient and effective solutions.
- Ensure all installations and maintenance work meet NSI and any other standards where applicable.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers and clients on system functionality and operation.
- Work collaboratively with managers, technicians, and other engineers to complete installations on schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and service reports.
- Follow health and safety protocols, ensuring all work is carried out in a safe and compliant manner.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new regulations.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Security Engineer within the industry.
- Strong knowledge of CCTV, access control, and door entry systems (experience with brands like Hikvision, Paxton, Entertec, Videx, Tynetec etc., is an advantage).
- Relevant qualifications in security systems (e.g. City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with industry regulations, including BS4737, and EN standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid UK Driving License (or equivalent if outside the UK).
- Willingness to travel to client sites and participate in an on-call rota when required.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in programming and configuring security systems.
- Certifications such as ECS/CSCS Card, IPAF, PASMA.
- Previous experience working with networked security solutions (IP CCTV, cloud-based access control, etc.).
- Experience with commissioning and system integration.
