IDES are a family-owned, nationwide electrical contractor operating primarily within the commercial and industrial sectors, with a strong focus on the dental industry, automotive repair centres, and retail store fit-outs. We are expanding our Fire & Security division and are looking for a skilled Fire & Security (Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance) Engineer to join our team!
This is a permanent, full-time position where nationwide travel (staying away) is required.
We are looking for an experienced Fire & Security (Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance) Engineer, to join our growing team and to help shape the Fire & Security function at IDES. You will be a key figure in the department’s growth, working alongside management to influence operations and team development.
There is a great opportunity for further career progression for the right candidate, with scope for the role to develop, as the company/Fire & Security division continues to grow.
Main Responsibilities:
· Install, test, and commission a wide range of Fire & Security systems across commercial and industrial sites (occasional domestic).
· Take a lead role on projects and support junior engineers with guidance and training.
· Contribute to departmental growth & development.
· Ensure all work complies with current British Standards and current safety regulations.
· Maintain accurate records, job sheets, logbooks, and certification.
· Travel nationwide with overnight stays (bonus and allowances provided).
Knowledge & Requirements:
· Minimum 5 years of installation experience with addressable and conventional fire/security systems across various manufacturers.
· Strong knowledge of fire alarm and security system regulations and installation requirements.
· Full UK Driving Licence.
· Preferably based in the North of England (e.g. Lancashire, Yorkshire), Midlands (e.g. East Midlands, West Midlands) or Central Southern England (e.g. Oxfordshire, Berkshire), with flexibility to travel and work away.
· Excellent communication, time management, and leadership potential.
Beneficial (Not Essential):
· Valid CSCS/ECS card.
· IPAF Certification.
Benefits:
· £40,000 - £45,000 (including annual pay review)
Realistic Estimated Earnings (Salary + Estimated Annual Bonus): £45,000 – 50,000
· Annual salary review (based on performance)
· Time and a half overtime (weekends)
· No on-call working
· Bonus for working away + £30 (per night away) food allowance
