Overview
We are seeking a skilled Approved Electrician / Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical systems and be adept at using both hand and power tools. This role requires a commitment to safety and efficiency while delivering high-quality electrical work in various settings. Supervisory duties will be required to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard. so communication skills, delegation and leading by example are key.
Job Purpose
To use a working knowledge of electrical systems to inspect, conduct maintenance, fault-find and diagnose issues on existing systems and equipment. To carry out new electrical installations including, but not limited to, lighting, power, emergency lighting and heating, to DISCs standards and to maintain those systems whilst upholding high levels of safety and complying with codes and regulations. To be able to lead and supervise (a team of ) electricians, mates and sub-contractors on projects.
Minimum requirements
· JIB card holder
· 18th Edition qualified
· 2391 Testing & Inspection qualified
· Have been a registered apprentice or undergone some equivalent method of training and have had practical training in electrical installation work
· NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation work or approved equivalent
· City & Guilds2360 Electrical Installation Theory Part II course or approved equivalent
Approved Electrician Duties
Ultimately reporting to DISC’s Directors and / or Contracts Engineer but sometimes on the job to the Electrical Supervisor (on site), or working independently and supervising others depending on the size of the job:
· To proficiently diagnose and repair electrical problems in electrical systems and machinery, including fault-finding, rewiring, and monitoring
· Assess the parts needed for a job and when instructed, organise for those parts to be purchased
· Conduct routine maintenance and testing on electrical systems, and ensure installations are to manufacturer’s standards, including in fire alarms and security systems
· Rewire faulty electrical systems, such as lighting, power, heating systems and alarms
· Ensure good quality workmanship which upholds company standards, complies with building codes and follows safety requirements
· To be able to work alone on occasions to find and present faults and concerns in electrical systems without receiving explicit direction
· Supervise less experienced colleagues to complete works safely that comply with regulations and adhere to DISC’s quality standards
· Contribute to control panel build, where specifically directed
· Provide professional assessments and advice for customers
· Install electrical systems to current edition of the IEE wiring regulations
· Possess City & Guilds 2360 and 2382 qualifications and have a sound working knowledge of IEE regulations and the requirements of inspection and testing certificate (2391)
· Demonstrate knowledge of NICEIC requirements
· Complete work instruction forms, time sheets and test certificates correctly and in a timely manner
· The role requires travelling to DISC and customer sites across the UK
· Be responsible for positively promoting DISC Electrical Limited internally and externally
· To follow risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) and contribute to them when required
· To work within a team of operatives, to share and gain company and practical site experience
· To carry out ad hoc duties as instructed by the Directors
· To understand and support the Company Quality Policy and strive for continuous improvement.
· Provide exceptional customer service and answer any customer questions professionally
