Full job description

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Sales Associate to join our Hardware / DIY department at Rejects, our independent, family-run department store in Kirkcaldy.

If you have a background in hardware or DIY retail, enjoy helping customers and want to play an active part in running a department, we’d love to hear from you.

The role

Working alongside our management and buying teams, you’ll help keep the department well stocked, well presented and ready for customers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service and practical product advice.
  • Helping customers find suitable products for their projects.
  • Supporting product buying by identifying stock gaps, customer requests and opportunities to improve our range.
  • Assisting with ordering, replenishment and stock control.
  • Receiving deliveries, checking stock and keeping pricing accurate.
  • Maintaining tidy, attractive displays and a safe, organised department.
  • Supporting colleagues and helping elsewhere in the store when required.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in hardware / DIY retail is essential.
  • Good knowledge of hardware and DIY products, with confidence advising customers.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • A reliable, organised approach and the ability to use your initiative.
  • A willingness to take responsibility and work as part of a team.
  • Buying or stock-ordering experience would be an advantage.

Hours and availability

This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week across 4 days out of 7. Shifts are between 10am and 5pm and include one weekend day every week, depending on the rota.
