The department treats 19,000 patients per annum and acts as the single point of assessment for all acute hospital admissions and referrals from the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, with demand increasing during the holiday season.
There is a regular need to assess patients referred by GPs to the on call in-patient specialists from the MSG. These patients are sent to the ED for assessment, where the department functions like an MAU/SAU.
The salary for this post is £109,663 to £147,439 dependant on experience in addition to an 8% on-call allowance and a CEA payment of between £8,871 to £17,742 per annum.

The budget is supported by an income stream and not compromised by unfair NHS tariffs.
Your 12-session contract will include some on-call requirements, a sustainable frequency of night shifts, senior delivered service (no trainees) and no crowding even in busy times.

The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000. It has some of Britain’s finest and best-kept beaches, an especially mild and sunny climate, and an offbeat, historic harbor town in St. Peter’s Port, the island’s capital.

This unique integrated health service delivers a diverse range of services including diagnosing and treating patients in the island’s acute hospital complex, and supporting people within the wider community.
Guernsey provides excellent Emergency care, supported by modern equipment and is reliant on A&E Doctors recruited to a high standard.
