Full job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly committed person with experience in caring for horses and ponies to join the Sanctuary Care Team at Upcott Park near Holsworthy, North Devon.

You will be working 4 days out of 7 - 30 hours per week (to include a Sunday and a Monday). Salary £26,322 per annum pro rata.

This is a physically demanding role where you will be working closely with our team of experts to help provide the highest standard of care, monitor the health and behaviour of rescued horses and ponies and be actively involved in delivering their tailored training and rehabilitation plans. You will also be assisting with updating of horse records on our in-house IT system.

Knowledge of equine behaviour and training is advantageous but not essential as full training will be given in this area.

  • Are able to carry out all standard yard duties such as stable and grassland management, grooming, feeding, exercising

  • Would like to work in a professional, friendly and supportive team
  • Hold a full UK driving license and live within easy commuting distance

The Mare and Foal Sanctuary is the largest equine charity in the South West peninsula, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of horses and ponies in need. Based in Devon, we have 4 specialist sites, including a specialist veterinary and welfare assessment centre. We also have an active programme of educational events for horse owners and a multidisciplinary equine assisted learning team.
