Full job description

We are a wild bird rescue and rehabilitation non-profit. We help a wide variety of bird species.

We are looking for two people to join us in paid roles to carry out core day-to-day tasks at our aviaries near South Brent in Devon. Responsibilities include feeding, hygiene, laundry and other tasks.

The roles are initially for 3 to 4 hours per day, usually 5 days each week, and will include weekend shifts. Shifts are typically either between 9am and 1pm or 3pm and 7pm. The days and precise times are subject to agreement as we are recruiting more than one person and will arrange days / shifts depending on candidates' usual availability. For example, it may be possible to arrange single, longer shifts on specific days.

We also need people who are prepared to work extra shifts from time-to-time to cover holidays and other absences for their colleagues.

Hours will vary slightly during the year: nesting season during the spring and summer is our busiest time, while the winter is typically quieter.

Previous experience with birds is not essential as complete training will be given. Some previous experience of caring for animals may be beneficial but this is not a pre-requisite.

The role and / or hours have the potential to expand over time.

We are in a rural location, so own transport is essential. We also require a driving-licence holder as you may from time-to-time be needed to drive birds to vet appointments or to collect birds. If this is required, we will either provide a vehicle or pay travel expenses for use of your own vehicle.

Please email with details of your experience or call 07734 898220.
