Horse Behaviour Team Member (Trainer)

Behaviour Training Yard, Tasburgh - South of Norwich

1 x full-time permanent contract - 40 hrs per week (including weekend working)

Salary range: £22,568.00 (age 18-20) to £26,436.80 (age 21 and over)

Redwings is one of the largest horse welfare charities in the UK, where everything we do is for the love of the horse. Working for us means you can make a real difference in the lives of the horses in our care while being part of a supportive and progressive workplace.

An essential part of the work we do at Redwings is the rehabilitation of horses who are extremely nervous or traumatised by their past experiences. To support these equines, we have a dedicated Behaviour Team who use gentle, ethical methods grounded in evidence-based principles of how horses learn.

We’re excited to offer a rare opportunity to join our specialist Behaviour Team. Comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to help rehabilitate our horses, supporting them on their journey to overcome their past and build a brighter future.

What will you do?

· Following a period of training, you will be responsible for managing and working with nervous or challenging equines. There is no riding involved as all training is carried out on the ground.

· Ensure our horses have access to appropriate water, feed, and shelter, maintaining hygiene, and checking and cleaning paddocks.

· You will conduct visual health checks, administer prescribed medication, and assist in catching and holding nervous horses for the farrier and vet team.

· Drive and operate Sanctuary vehicles and machinery.

What can we offer you?

· A busy, supportive, team-working environment

· Full Redwings in-house theory and practical behaviour training

· Wellbeing support through our Employee Assistance Programme

What are we looking for from you?

· Previous experience of working with horses or as a horse owner

· An interest in equine welfare and behaviour

· An openness to learning and applying Redwings’ established behaviour training methods

· A full manual or automatic driving licence is essential
