Shift Manager - Production

£48,000 - £54,000 per annum plus excellent benefits

Permanent - 4 on 4 off (2 shifts, 6am - 6pm followed by 2 shifts, 9am to 9pm)

About the Job:

We have an exciting but rare opportunity to join our production management team as a Shift Manager, Working 4 on 4 off and reporting to the Production and Environmental Manager. You will deliver on departmental objectives and proactively work with your colleagues, assuming collective responsibility, for shaping and leading the delivery of the department plans in order to support the company's vision to be "The World Best Dairy Food and ingredient company"

As Shift Manager you will:

  • Maintain ownership of the daily site SIC meeting at Tier 1 level, actively progress actions to completion or by seeking support from peers at Tier 2 Level to overcome any barriers to progression.
  • Operate as an active member of handover meetings to Cell leads at start and end of shift.
  • Operate as an active member of the site DMS meetings.
  • Ensure that issues and opportunities are raised as part of the tiered communication process.
  • Encourage team members to identify and raise any CI opportunities within the department.
  • Lead initiatives to Prevent Problems Before They Happen (PPBTH), applying problem solving techniques and continues improvement tools to improve efficiencies and effectiveness within the Production and Whey operation
  • Provide Operational Subject matter expertise in the event of incident investigations to allow the Shift Manager counterpart to focus on managing the shift.
  • Work with the CI Specialist, Operational Skills Specialist to embed improvement learnings within the teams
  • Engage and participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, actively leading projects where appropriate.
  • Develop and implement effective Standard Work, identifying best practices and defining activities in a way that they are sequenced, organised and repeatedly followed.
  • Actively support a culture of Preventing Problems Before They Happen (PPBTH).

About You:

The successful applicant will have:

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent (grade C or above) including Maths, English
  • Training in Supervisory Management
  • Shift supervision and people management in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Evidence of consistent achievement of production targets
  • Proven ability to work systematically to agreed guidelines
  • Proven ability to form good working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of how safe working practices are applied in the production environment
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including; Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Ability to analyse and manipulate data and provide meaningful information
