Full job description

Salary: £44,203 - £45,267 p.a. Full-time (37 hours per week). Full year. Permanent. Based at London Road campus.

The AM2 Assessor is responsible for the delivery and assessment of the College’s electrical End Point Assessments, including AM2, AM2S, AM2E, AM2SV1 and AM2EV1, for both internal candidates and external commercial clients. The role includes hands‑on assessment, marking of evidence, preparation of the assessment environment, and effective coordination with training providers and candidates. The post also involves participation in NET standardisation, supporting quality assurance processes, and contributing to the ongoing development and smooth running of the assessment centre. Flexibility is required due to the centre opening hours and to meet the needs of the candidates.

Shrewsbury College is Shropshire’s largest college. The college operates at three campuses in Shrewsbury. We deliver a broad range of vocational and higher-level courses to 2300 16–18-year-olds, 4000 adult students, 300 HE students and 950 apprentices at our London Road Campus. 2100 A-Level students are taught at our Welsh and English Bridge Campuses in the centre of Shrewsbury. The college was inspected in March 2025 and judged to be ‘Outstanding’, with a ‘Strong’ contribution to skills. The college was recognised as a top 10 employer by The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026 and enjoys ‘outstanding’ financial health.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect staff to share this commitment. As an employer we are also committed to promoting and protecting the physical, financial, social and mental health of all our staff. An enhanced DBS Check will be required for all the above posts, which are exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 and related amendments. As an equal opportunities employer, Shrewsbury College welcomes applications from all sections of the community and is proud to be a Disability Confident employer. We actively encourage and support applications from disabled candidates. Where applicants meet the minimum criteria for the role, we will offer an interview whenever practicable in line with the terms of being a Disability Confident employer.
