Are you an organised and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant looking for a varied role within a supportive team?

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team, just a few miles from Edinburgh city centre. About the role

You'll help support the day-to-day finance function across several businesses primarily in the hospitality and leisure sector.

No two days are quite the same, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied workload and taking ownership of their responsibilities.

Your duties will include:

  • Processing purchase and customer invoices, ensuring accurate coding
  • Daily and monthly income reconciliations
  • Processing bank receipts and payments
  • Bank and loan reconciliations
  • Monthly journals
  • Supporting debtor and creditor management
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting with budgets and forecast
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Producing financial reports and analysis
  • Supporting the wider finance team with additional tasks as required

About you

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeping role or similar
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Comfortable learning new finance systems (knowledge of Xero is beneficial but not essential)
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
  • Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Positive, reliable and proactive
  • Able to use initiative and solve problems

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
