Trainee Accountant

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Trainee Accountant to join ATC Advisors, an established Accountancy Practice, based in our Launceston branch.

The position requires sound analytical skills and an eye for detail, with the ability to adapt to keep abreast of changing technology and legislation. The role will suit candidates with strong academic skills who are self-motivated and able to work to deadlines within a team.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, enthusiasm to learn and a desire to deliver first class client service.

No previous knowledge or experience is required as full training and support will be given for the right candidate, with professional studies enhancing your growing role.

Location: Launceston

Type: Full time - 37.5 hours a week, office based

Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum depending on experience

Start Date: From mid August – negotiable.

Main Duties

  • Maintenance of Client records and preparation of VAT Returns with the use of software including Sage, Xero and QuickBooks;
  • Preparation of year end accounts and other professional work;
  • Preparation of tax computations and personal tax returns;
  • Using the practice software Iris in all aspects required to enable you to fulfil your role;
  • Carry out other professional work when required, such as preparing management accounts;
  • Meeting and liaising with clients when required;
  • To maintain high standards of customer service at all times.

Requirements and skills:

Essential

  • 3 A levels or equivalent qualifications;
  • Full driving licence.

Desirable

  • English and Maths GCSE;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Good IT skills being literate in the use of Excel, Word and Outlook;
  • Excellent data analytical skills;
  • Self-motivated with a common-sense approach;
  • Keen to learn and develop a career in accounting.

Training and development

We will provide training to allow the candidate to develop a successful and rounded career in accountancy. The training will include mentoring, internal and external training courses, as well as the opportunity to study for further accountancy qualifications such as AAT, ACCA or ACA. All study is fully funded by ATC Advisors.
