Agricultural Service Engineer / Apprentice Agricultural Engineer

Location: Wardon Hill, Dorset (DT2 9PW)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and ability (applicants applying for an apprenticeship will be on a lower rate but with full training and support supplied as well as a progressive rate throughout the apprenticeship)

GCS Agricentre is looking for experienced Agricultural Service Engineers and enthusiastic Apprentice Agricultural Engineers to join our team at our purpose-built depot in Wardon Hill.

With increasing sales of CASE IH tractors, handlers, and agricultural equipment, we are expanding our engineering support team to meet growing customer demand. This is an exciting opportunity to build a long-term career within the agricultural industry, supported by industry-leading manufacturer training and development.

Whether you already have agricultural engineering experience or come from a related mechanical background with a willingness to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As part of our engineering team, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment from our leading franchise partners.

The position includes participation in an on-call rota to support customer breakdowns outside normal working hours. Additional payments are made for call-out duties, on top of your standard hourly rate.

Responsibilities

  • Service, diagnose, and repair agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Use computer-based diagnostic systems to identify faults.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support both in the workshop and on-site.
  • Participate in an on-call breakdown rota, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet customer requirements.

What We're Looking ForEssential Skills & Experience

  • Agricultural Engineering qualifications, Mechanical Engineering qualifications, or proven experience within a relevant engineering sector.
  • Strong mechanical and technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work safely and understand the importance of PPE and workplace safety.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to find practical solutions.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude.

Desirable

  • Experience working with agricultural machinery.
  • Knowledge of electronic and computer diagnostic systems.
  • Understanding of the demands of a 24/7 agricultural industry.

Applicants without direct agricultural experience will be considered if they have relevant engineering experience and a genuine interest in developing a career within the agricultural sector.
