Full job description

Arabic Speaking SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: SEN SchoolKey Stages: KS1 and KS2Specialism: Autism, ADHD and Learning DifficultiesRole: Full Time SEN Teaching Assistant

We are working with a progressive and supportive SEN school looking for an Arabic Speaking SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a pupil within Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

The pupil has recently moved to the UK and currently has a limited understanding of English. They also have additional learning needs, so the school is looking for someone who can communicate confidently in both Arabic and English, helping the pupil feel settled, understood and supported while gradually developing their confidence with English.

The school specialises in supporting children with autism, ADHD and a range of learning difficulties and takes a highly individualised approach to each pupil.

The Role

You will work closely with the pupil, class teacher and wider SEN team to:

  • Provide one to one and classroom based SEN support
  • Communicate with the pupil in Arabic where needed to help them understand instructions, routines and expectations
  • Support the pupil in gradually developing their understanding and use of English
  • Break learning down into smaller, manageable steps
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and engagement
  • Help the pupil develop independence and confidence within the classroom
  • Provide reassurance during periods of anxiety, frustration or confusion
  • Support pupils with autism, ADHD and additional learning needs
  • Use visual aids, modelling, repetition and structured activities to support understanding
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals

The Ideal Candidate

The school would particularly like to hear from candidates who:

  • Speak fluent Arabic and English
  • Have experience working with children or young people
  • Have experience with autism, ADHD, SEN or learning difficulties
  • Are patient, calm and able to build strong relationships
  • Understand that behaviour can often be a form of communication
  • Are confident supporting a child who may initially struggle to communicate in English
  • Are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning

Experience within a specialist SEN school would be beneficial, although candidates with strong transferable experience from education, care, youth work, psychology or similar backgrounds will also be considered.

The School

This is a progressive SEN school with a strong focus on helping every child develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The school provides a supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop communication skills, independence and confidence at their own pace.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Arabic speaking Teaching Assistant who wants to make a genuine difference to a child adjusting to a new country, a new language and a new school environment.

Pay: £95.00-£110.00 per day
