Intelligence Researcher (Arabic / Farsi Linguist)

Location: Central London (Hybrid)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, hybrid working with three days per week in our London office

About Us

Praetorian Connections Ltd (PCL) is a leading provider of language-enabled open source intelligence (OSINT) supporting geopolitical, security, and risk-focused decision making.

Our Intelligence Teams deliver timely, accurate, and insightful reporting across complex global portfolios, combining linguistic expertise, regional understanding, structured research methods, and rigorous analytical tradecraft.

We are looking for talented Intelligence Researchers with fluency in Arabic or Farsi to join our growing Intelligence Team. French language skills would be considered an advantage.

If you are analytical, detail-oriented, passionate about global affairs, and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast paced environment, we would like to hear from you. At PCL, you will join a mission driven team where your language skills and analytical judgement directly contribute to high-impact intelligence products used to understand complex global developments.

The Role

As an Intelligence Researcher, you will play a key role in identifying, translating, analysing, and reporting on open source information in support of our clients’ intelligence requirements.

Working under the guidance of an Intelligence Manager and Regional Collection Manager, you will conduct structured research, assess information from a range of sources, and produce clear, concise written reporting that meets PCL’s editorial and analytical standards.

This is an opportunity to develop your skills as an intelligence professional while contributing to meaningful work covering geopolitical, security, and socio-economic developments.

Key Responsibilities

· Open-Source Research & Collection

· Conduct structured open-source research in Arabic or Farsi in response to defined intelligence requirements.

· Identify, assess, and collect information from credible sources, prioritising primary and near-primary material.

· Translate and summarise non-English language material accurately and effectively.

· Monitor relevant political, security, economic, and social developments.

Reporting & Analysis…

· Produce clear, concise written reports in English aligned with internal editorial standards.

· Communicate the relevance, context, and implications of collected information.

· Support the delivery of regular intelligence reporting and bespoke research tasks.

· Contribute to the development of analytical products, including timelines, maps, and other visual outputs where required.

· Data & Information Management

· Maintain accurate records of sources, references, and research findings.

· Support internal databases and information management processes.

· Apply robust source validation principles and highlight any quality concerns.

Team Contribution…

· Participate actively in team meetings, briefings, and knowledge sharing sessions.

· Support wider team priorities and ad hoc research requirements.

· Maintain professional standards and follow internal policies relating to responsible data use and online conduct.

About You

You are a curious, reliable, and detail oriented researcher with strong language skills and an interest in understanding complex information environments.

You enjoy investigating information, identifying patterns, and communicating insights clearly to support decision making.

Essential Skills & Attributes

· Fluency in Arabic or Farsi (written and spoken).

· Strong written English, with the ability to produce clear and structured reporting.

· Strong translation and summarisation skills.

· Experience conducting research using open sources, academic resources, media, databases, or similar information environments.

· Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to reviewing information.

· Ability to assess source credibility and identify reliable information.

· Strong organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines.

· Interest in geopolitical, security, regional, or socio-economic issues.

· Collaborative and professional approach with a willingness to learn and receive feedback.

Desirable Skills & Experience

· French language capability.

· Previous experience in intelligence, OSINT, risk analysis, investigative research, journalism, or regional analysis.

· Experience using structured research methodologies or information management systems.

· Familiarity with source evaluation and analytical techniques.

This is an excellent opportunity for both early career researchers and those looking to develop further within the intelligence sector.

Why Join PCL?

At PCL, you will become part of a collaborative and growing intelligence organisation where your research and language skills directly contribute to high impact analysis.

We are committed to continuous learning and professional development, building expertise through collaboration and shared knowledge, providing opportunities for progression within a growing organisation, and supporting our people through a positive and inclusive working environment.

Additional Information

· Candidates must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application. We are unable to sponsor visa applications for this role.
