Architectural Technologist
FastSpace | Manchester | £38,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience
About FastSpace
FastSpace is a design-and-construct business based within The Gallery, specialising in the design and construction of office buildings alongside residential renovation projects, including houses and apartments.
We work across a variety of projects, combining design, technical expertise and practical construction knowledge to deliver functional, well-considered spaces.
As our business continues to develop, we’re looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our small team and play an important role in the technical development and delivery of our projects.
The Role
This is an opportunity for a technically capable Architectural Technologist to take ownership of architectural drawings, technical design and construction information across a varied portfolio of commercial and residential projects.
Working closely with the team, consultants and construction professionals, you’ll help turn design concepts into technically sound, compliant and buildable solutions. You’ll be expected to work independently, identify potential issues early and contribute practical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a hands-on understanding of construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop architectural designs into detailed technical and construction drawings.
- Produce accurate plans, elevations, sections, construction details and specifications.
- Use Revit and AutoCAD to develop, coordinate and maintain project information.
- Contribute to projects from initial surveys and design development through to construction and completion.
- Apply knowledge of UK Building Regulations, planning requirements and relevant construction standards.
- Coordinate technical information with structural engineers, M&E consultants, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Undertake site visits and surveys, assessing existing buildings and identifying technical considerations.
- Identify and resolve design discrepancies, buildability issues and technical challenges.
- Prepare and update drawings in response to design changes and site requirements.
- Support planning applications, Building Control submissions and technical documentation.
- Assist with tender packages, construction information and material specifications.
- Manage competing deadlines and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Communicate technical information clearly to the wider team and project stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- A relevant qualification in Architectural Technology or a related construction/design discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Approximately 3–6 years of relevant professional experience, with flexibility for candidates whose skills and responsibilities demonstrate the appropriate level.
- Strong AutoCAD skills and good working proficiency in Revit/BIM.
- Experience producing detailed technical and construction drawings.
- A sound understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction methods.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- An understanding of building materials, construction detailing and buildability.
- Experience working on residential and/or commercial projects.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- The confidence to work independently, take ownership of tasks and identify practical solutions.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with both commercial and residential projects.
- Experience in office construction, fit-outs, refurbishments, new builds or residential renovations.
- Knowledge of planning applications and Building Control submissions.
- Experience with site inspections, surveys and resolving technical issues during construction.
- BIM coordination experience.
- Experience preparing tender and construction packages.
- An understanding of construction costs and programme considerations.
- CIAT membership, MCIAT status or progress towards chartership.
Why Join FastSpace?
- Work across a varied mix of commercial and residential projects.
- Take meaningful ownership of technical design and project delivery.
- Work directly with a small team, contractors and project stakeholders.
- Have the opportunity to influence design decisions and practical construction outcomes.
- Join a growing business where your contribution can make a real difference.
Benefits
- On-site gym
- Company pension
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Discounted food and drinks at Munchy’s Café
- Company events
- Casual dress
- Hybrid working options, where suitable for the role
- Free on-site parking
- Private medical insurance
- Sales promotions and competitions
- Sick pay
Salary: £38,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Working Pattern:
· Monday-Friday 07:00-15:30
- 30-minute lunch break
- Additional hours may be required depending on project requirements
Location: Manchester.
If you’re a technically strong Architectural Technologist who enjoys solving problems, working closely with construction teams and seeing projects progress from design to completion, we’d love to hear from you.
Please submit your CV and a portfolio showcasing relevant technical drawings and projects. Where possible, please outline your personal contribution to the projects included.
Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
