A Little About Us
New Space Architecture is a friendly, creative architectural practice based just outside Exeter, specialising in residential design, from home extensions and renovations to bespoke new homes.
We are a close-knit team of passionate, creative and considerate individuals who genuinely care about the work we do, the people we work with and the clients we design for.
We believe that great architecture comes from collaboration, creativity and attention to detail, and that enjoying where you work and who you work with is just as important as the work itself.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Architectural Technician or Technologist to join our team. We would love to find someone who shares our passion for design, takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a friendly, supportive and collaborative environment.
The Role
You will be working on a varied range of residential projects, helping to develop designs from initial concepts through to detailed technical drawings and construction.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Arranging and undertaking measured building surveys.
- Producing accurate existing and proposed drawings using Revit.
- Developing design proposals in accordance with client briefs, budgets and practical construction considerations.
- Preparing drawings and supporting information for Planning and Building Regulations applications.
- Producing detailed construction drawings, specifications and technical details.
- Coordinating design information with consultants and other professionals.
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, contractors and other third parties.
- Attending site meetings and helping to resolve technical and design challenges.
- Managing and progressing multiple projects at different stages, working closely with the wider team.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is technically capable, enthusiastic about architecture and, most importantly, someone who will enjoy being part of our team.
Essential skills and experience:
- Proficient in Revit, with the ability to confidently produce accurate architectural drawings and technical information.
- Experience working within an architectural practice or similar environment.
- A good understanding of construction methods, materials and detailing.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and their practical application.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Confident and friendly communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A positive, proactive approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work independently when needed, whilst enjoying collaboration and teamwork.
Just As Important As Your Experience
We are a small, supportive team, so finding the right person to join us really matters.
We would love to welcome someone who is friendly, considerate and approachable, who enjoys sharing ideas and working together to find solutions.
Someone who is happy to ask questions, offer support to others and take responsibility for their work, whilst always being open to learning and developing.
Above all, we want someone who enjoys what they do and will contribute positively to our team and the working environment we have created.
What We Can Offer You
At New Space, we genuinely care about our people and want everyone to feel valued, supported and encouraged to do their best.
We offer:
- A competitive salary of £30,000 – £36,000, depending on experience.
- Flexible working hours.
- 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
- A friendly, welcoming and supportive office environment.
- The opportunity to work on a varied range of interesting residential projects.
- Opportunities for continued learning, training and professional development.
- A collaborative working environment where everyone's ideas and contributions are valued.
