About the opportunity

We are inviting applications to register your interest in a contract Data Architect position based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England. This is an opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of robust data systems that support organisational decision-making and operational efficiency. You would work with established teams to architect scalable data solutions, ensuring data quality and alignment across enterprise platforms.

What you would do

Typical responsibilities could include:

  • Designing and architecting data pipelines and systems that support organisational analytics and operational requirements
  • Gathering and analysing data requirements from stakeholders across the business
  • Ensuring data quality standards and implementing governance frameworks aligned with CSDR and regulatory expectations
  • Collaborating with engineering and analytics teams to align data solutions with microservices and distributed systems architecture
  • Documenting data models, architecture decisions and system designs using UML and BPMN methodologies
  • Supporting the integration of data systems with enterprise platforms, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC and SAP RISE environments
  • Liaising with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data architecture specifications

What you could bring

Most roles of this type require the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in data architecture, data systems design or a closely related role
  • Strong knowledge of data pipelines, data quality frameworks and data requirements gathering
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP, and containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of SQL, relational and non-relational databases, and data warehouse design
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, infrastructure-as-code (such as Terraform) and Linux/Windows environments
  • Familiarity with APIs and microservices architecture in distributed systems contexts
  • Knowledge of enterprise platforms, particularly SAP environments (S/4HANA, ECC or RISE)
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience demonstrating advanced technical capability
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools
  • Knowledge of BPMN and UML for systems design documentation
  • Exposure to Python, Java or .NET ecosystems
  • Understanding of regulatory or compliance frameworks such as CSDR or quality management systems
