About PKL Investments

PKL Investments is a growing property and construction group developing its own portfolio of healthcare, care home and specialist accommodation projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with architectural, design coordination or construction project experience to move into a hands-on client-side role, working directly with the Managing Director and Head of Construction on live developments across the group.

Unlike a traditional architectural practice or contractor role, this position offers involvement from the earliest design and feasibility stages through to planning, construction, specification, procurement and operational handover. You will see projects develop from concept to completion and have a genuine influence on how our buildings are designed, delivered and used.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Design / Project Coordinator to support the delivery of a growing healthcare and specialist accommodation development pipeline.

Upcoming projects include:

· Newgate Lodge Care Home extension (£6m project value)

· Newgate Extra Care design proposals (£8-10m project value)

· Lowmoor Nursing Home site masterplan (£5-10m project value)

· Design specification for residential learning disability and mental health units

· Additional healthcare, care home and supported living developments across the group

This role is ideal for someone from an architectural, architectural technology, design coordination or construction project background who is looking to broaden their experience and play a key role within a fast-moving, owner-led development business.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

You will help lead and coordinate the design development of care homes, extra care, supported living and specialist healthcare projects.

Responsibilities include:

· Developing early-stage design ideas, feasibility studies and concept proposals using CAD

· Assessing building, user and operational requirements to create practical, compliant and commercially viable design solutions

· Preparing and reviewing drawings, design information, schedules and specifications

· Coordinating internal design reviews and managing drawing amendments as projects progress

· Liaising with architects, planning consultants, building control, contractors, suppliers and specialist consultants

· Researching materials, finishes and specification options with consideration for cost, durability, compliance and maintenance

· Supporting value engineering exercises while maintaining design quality and intent

· Researching energy-efficient, sustainable and ESG-conscious building solutions

· Preparing, submitting and tracking planning, building control and related project information

Project Coordination

You will support the delivery of projects from feasibility through to completion, ensuring information, communication and actions are effectively managed.

Responsibilities include:

· Coordinating design teams, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders

· Supporting the team to use Dash Pivot and Site Mate

· Preparing project timelines, action trackers, meeting notes, reports and progress updates

· Attending design meetings, project meetings and site visits

· Monitoring progress, identifying issues and helping keep projects on track

· Supporting procurement, supplier research, material selection and contractor coordination

· Maintaining accurate project files, shared drives, trackers and documentation systems

· Supporting scheduling of trades, materials, site requirements and key project milestones

· Ensuring decisions are followed through and critical tasks are prioritised

Strategic & Operational Support

As part of a growing group, you will also work closely with the Managing Director and senior team on wider business improvement and development initiatives.

This may include:

· Supporting new business ventures, development appraisals and project reviews

· Helping standardise specifications, processes, templates and project documentation

· Producing reports and analysis to support decision-making

· Working with care home and operational teams to understand how buildings are used in practice

· Supporting improvements across systems, communication, compliance preparation and operational workflows

· Taking ownership of specific workstreams and driving them through to completion

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and confident working across multiple projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

· A background in architecture, architectural technology, design coordination, construction project coordination or a related field

· Experience producing, reviewing or coordinating drawings and design information

· A good understanding of planning, building regulations, construction stages and design development

· Strong CAD skills, with experience in software such as AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Revit or similar

· The ability to communicate clearly with consultants, contractors, suppliers, managers and directors

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

· Confidence preparing reports, minutes, trackers, presentations and project documentation

· A practical, commercial and problem-solving mindset

· Willingness to attend sites and be involved in project delivery

· A genuine interest in healthcare, care home, supported living or specialist accommodation design

Experience in care, healthcare, supported living, residential development or contractor-side project delivery would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Why Join PKL Investments?

This is a rare opportunity to join an owner-developer and construction group with a live pipeline of meaningful healthcare and specialist accommodation projects.

You will have the opportunity to:

· Work directly with senior decision-makers

· Influence projects from concept through to completion

· Gain client-side development and construction experience

· Work on buildings that directly impact residents, families, care teams and local communities

· Broaden your role beyond traditional architectural practice

· Develop your skills in design management, project coordination, procurement and development strategy

· Be part of a growing group with ambitious plans across care, healthcare and specialist accommodation

This is a varied and important role for someone seeking responsibility, exposure and long-term career growth within a dynamic business.

Salary & Benefits?

· Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience

· Full-time, permanent role

· Opportunity for career progression as the development portfolio grows

· Exposure to a wide range of healthcare, care home and specialist accommodation projects

· Direct involvement with senior leadership and key business decisions

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
