Full job description

We are a high-end interior design studio based in North London and are looking for an experienced Architectural Designer / Senior Architectural Technician to join our growing team.

This role is suited to someone with strong design ability combined with excellent technical drawing and detailing skills. We are looking for someone who can take a design from concept and independently develop it into a detailed, accurate and well-coordinated technical drawing package.

The successful candidate will work closely with our interior designers and project team across a variety of high-end residential and commercial interior projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed architectural layouts and full technical drawing packages
  • Prepare detailed plans, sections, elevations and construction details
  • Produce detailed bespoke joinery drawings, including kitchens, wardrobes, fitted furniture and specialist interior features
  • Prepare and coordinate lighting, electrical, plumbing and ceiling layouts
  • Develop bathroom and kitchen layouts and technical details
  • Translate interior design concepts and 3D designs into accurate, buildable technical drawings
  • Develop creative architectural and detailing solutions while maintaining the overall design intent
  • Coordinate drawings with contractors, consultants and suppliers
  • Attend site visits and site meetings where required
  • Respond confidently to technical and construction queries
  • Review site conditions and resolve design and detailing issues
  • Update drawings and technical documentation throughout the project
  • Manage several projects and drawing packages simultaneously

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology or a closely related field
  • Minimum 4–5 years' relevant professional experience, preferably within a UK architectural or high-end interior design practice
  • Excellent AutoCAD skills are essential
  • Strong experience producing detailed technical/construction drawing packages
  • Excellent understanding of construction, detailing and how interior elements are built
  • Strong experience with bespoke joinery and interior architectural detailing
  • Ability to develop drawings independently from initial layout through to detailed construction information
  • Strong design sense and ability to understand proportions, materials and interior detailing
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Revit experience is advantageous
  • Experience with SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion or Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous

Portfolio Requirement

Applicants must submit a portfolio together with their CV.

The portfolio should include examples of technical/working drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, construction details and bespoke joinery details.

Applications containing only CGI/3D visualisations without examples of technical drawings will not be considered.
