Full job description

Junior Designer

Department: Design

Reports to: Design Operations Lead

Location: Grantham HQ / Hybrid (3+ days in office)

About Rocket-X

Rocket-X is an exhibition design and build company creating stands that get noticed. Since 2009 we've helped brands stand out on the show floor, from concept through to build. As we grow, we're investing in the structure and process behind our design team to match the ambition of our creative work.

The Role

Rocket-X is looking for a Junior Designer with a graphic or multi-disciplinary design background to join our creative team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, production-ready design solutions for exhibitions, brand activations and product environments.

This role is ideal for a graphic or multi-disciplinary designer at the early stage of their career who is eager to learn, develop technical skills and contribute creatively under the guidance of senior team members. We will train you in 3D and exhibition design, so a spatial or interior design background is preferable but not essential. You will work on smaller-scale or simpler projects, producing graphics and artwork while assisting with concept development, technical drawings and production-ready outputs.

What you’ll do

Produce graphics, artwork, and visual presentations for stands, and support the design team with concepts and sketches.

Learn to create 3D visuals, detailed drawings, and specifications for simpler projects, with training and support.

Assist in ensuring designs are accurate, on-brand, and deliverable.

Work closely with production and project teams to understand project requirements and timelines.

Learn and apply best practices in 3D design, technical drawings, fabrication, and design workflows.

Keep up-to-date with emerging design trends, materials, and tools.

Contribute ideas, feedback, and creativity to team discussions.

Attend occasional site visits to support project understanding, observe installations, and liaise with production teams.

Required Skills & Experience

0–2 years’ experience in graphic, multi-disciplinary or exhibition design, branding or visual communication (including internships). Experience in exhibition, interior, retail or product design is preferable but not essential.

Strong graphic and visual design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating creativity, layout and attention to detail.

Proficiency in design software such as Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Experience of AutoCAD, SketchUp or similar 3D tools is a bonus, as training will be provided.

Willingness to learn 3D design, technical drawings, specifications and production processes.

Collaborative, proactive and eager to contribute to team projects.

Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Desirable Skills

Spatial, interior or exhibition design experience, or an interest in immersive or experiential design projects.

Awareness of brand activations, pop-ups or temporary installations.

Exposure to 3D modelling or rendering tools, or knowledge of emerging materials and fabrication techniques.

Why Join Rocket-X?

Gain hands-on experience across design, technical and production aspects, with training in 3D and exhibition design.

Work with a collaborative, supportive and forward-thinking team.

Opportunities for mentorship and career development into middleweight and senior design roles.

Contribute to creating memorable, high-quality brand experiences for clients.

Pay: £27,000.00-£28,999.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Free parking
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site parking
  • Private medical insurance
  • Sick pay

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Grantham NG31 7XT
