Full job description
Job Summary Asbestos Operative
We are seeking an experienced Asbestos Operative to join our growing team as a Mould and Damp Remediation Specialist.
Our approach to mould remediation is different from conventional mould cleaning companies. We don't simply spray chemicals onto mould - we physically remove contaminated materials, address the underlying contamination and follow controlled remediation procedures.
The role involves identifying, assessing and remediating mould and moisture-related damage in residential and commercial properties.
Candidates with a background in asbestos removal are particularly suited to this position due to their existing experience with containment, controlled removal, PPE, RPE, decontamination procedures and safe handling of hazardous materials.
We will provide specialist training in our mould remediation techniques, equipment and working procedures.
Key Responsibilities Asbestos Operative
- Carry out inspections and assessments to identify mould contamination, moisture damage and affected building materials.
- Establish controlled working areas, including appropriate containment, segregation and negative air pressure systems where required.
- Safely remove mould-contaminated building materials, including plasterboard, insulation, timber and other affected components.
- Operate specialist equipment, including HEPA-filtered extraction systems, air filtration devices and dehumidifiers.
- Follow strict health and safety procedures, including appropriate PPE, RPE and decontamination protocols.
- Undertake detailed cleaning and decontamination of affected areas.
- Assist with structural drying and moisture monitoring.
- Record site findings, take photographs and complete relevant job documentation.
- Work professionally within occupied residential properties and commercial environments.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and site managers.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and professionalism.
- Essential Experience and Requirements
- Applicants must have previous practical experience in asbestos removal and hold a valid C2C asbestos removal certificate.
- We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience with:
- Valid C2C asbestos removal certificate - mandatory.
- Proven hands-on experience working as an asbestos removal operative.
- Licensed or non-licensed asbestos removal operations.
- Setting up and dismantling enclosures and containment systems.
- Negative pressure units and controlled working environments.
- PPE, RPE and personal decontamination procedures.
- HEPA-filtered equipment and specialist cleaning techniques.
- Safe removal and disposal of contaminated materials.
- Working in accordance with method statements, risk assessments and site-specific procedures.
- An asbestos awareness certificate alone, including an online asbestos awareness course, is not sufficient for this position.
- Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in mould remediation, water damage restoration or damp treatment.
- Knowledge of building construction and common building materials.
- Experience with property strip-out and controlled demolition.
- Strong attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
