Asbestos R&D Surveyor / Asbestos Operative
Job details
Full job description
The Role:
Ideally, we are looking for an experienced Refurbishment & Demolition (R&D) Asbestos Surveyor who is also willing to undertake practical non-licensed asbestos removal and wider site operations.
However, we will also consider an experienced asbestos removal operative who wants to train and develop into an R&D Surveyor. For the right candidate, IP&G will support and fund the relevant surveying training and practical development.
This is a varied, hands-on role and would suit someone who wants to combine specialist asbestos work with practical construction-site operations rather than undertaking surveying exclusively.
Key Responsibilities
Asbestos Surveying
· Carry out R&D and Management asbestos surveys, subject to existing competence and qualifications
· Identify and record potential asbestos-containing materials (ACMs)
· Safely take representative samples
· Record survey findings, photographs and site information accurately
· Produce clear asbestos survey reports and associated documentation
· Liaise with clients, site managers and contractors
· Ensure surveys are completed safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance and company procedures
Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal
· Carry out non-licensed asbestos removal works within your training and competence
· Prepare work areas and implement appropriate control measures
· Follow asbestos Plans of Work and RAMS
· Correctly use PPE/RPE and appropriate decontamination procedures
· Safely remove, handle, package and prepare asbestos waste for disposal
· Complete relevant asbestos and waste documentation
Our current removal activities focus on non-licensed asbestos works, with opportunities for further specialist development as our asbestos services grow.
Site Logistics & Operational Support
· Delivery, collection and positioning of storage containers
· Delivery and collection of portable toilets and welfare equipment
· Delivery, installation and collection of Heras fencing and temporary site equipment
· Collection and transportation of construction waste
· Delivery and collection of materials, tools and equipment
· Loading/unloading and securing loads safely
· Supporting site setup and clearance
· Carrying out vehicle checks and maintaining company vehicles/equipment
· Supporting yard operations and stock organisation
Experience operating HIAB/lorry-loader or crane-operated vehicles would be advantageous but is not essential, as training may be provided.
About You
We would particularly like to hear from an experienced R&D Asbestos Surveyor who is willing to undertake non-licensed removal and practical site operations; or an experienced asbestos removal operative who wants to train and progress into asbestos surveying.
· Practical asbestos industry experience
· Good knowledge of asbestos risks and safe working practices
· Construction/refurbishment site experience
· Ability to understand and follow RAMS and Plans of Work
· Good attention to detail and record keeping
· A practical, flexible and reliable approach
· Basic computer/tablet skills
· Full UK driving licence
Desirable
· BOHS P402 or equivalent
· R&D/Management Survey experience
· Non-licensed asbestos removal experience
· Asbestos sampling/reporting experience
· Relevant asbestos operative training
· CSCS card
· Face-fit/RPE training
· HIAB/lorry-loader experience
P402 is desirable but not essential for an experienced asbestos operative with the right aptitude and willingness to train.
What We Offer
· Salary up to £40,000 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications
· Full-time, permanent employment
· Funded training and professional development
· Support towards relevant asbestos surveying qualifications
· Supervised practical surveying development where required
· Company vehicle for business use where appropriate
· Company pension
· Varied work across multiple construction projects
