Hereford Asbestos Services are looking to expand their team of Licensed Asbestos Removal Operatives and Trainees and require energetic, hard-working individuals to join our team carrying out work within the residential and commercial sectors throughout the country.
All roles require a level of physical fitness to enable manual handling and include work at height.
Additional training above and beyond asbestos removal refresher training (or for trainees, initial operatives training) will be provided on a job needs basis, and may such training as IPAF, PASMA, First Aid, and Confined Spaces qualifications.

Operatives
Job Types: Full-Time, Part-time, Permanent
Salary: £100.00-£115.00 per day

The Role
The role includes working on a variety of small, medium and large-scale projects throughout the UK, undertaking asbestos removal operations. Under direction of a Site Supervisor the Asbestos Removal Operative will assist with the specialist removal of all types of asbestos from client properties including:
- floor tiles,
- loft insulation,
- AIB panelling,
- external soffits,
- roof sheets.
- Or repairing asbestos materials using techniques such as encapsulation to seal damaged asbestos to make it safe to be left in place.
Experience is therefore key as is an understanding of current legislation and a strong work ethic.
Operative responsibilities: Reporting to the Asbestos Site Supervisor you will be responsible for:
- Having direct day-to day responsibility for your own health and safety and those affected by your actions and act as role models in your own behaviours and actions on site or when in the office.
- On-site implementation of project requirements as shown in the applicable Plan of Work to ensure adherence to company procedures and HSE Guidelines
- Ensuring that you follow the standard operating procedures as laid down by Hereford Asbestos Services.
- Using, storing and maintaining equipment (including PPE and RPE) issued to you according to the information, instruction and training you have received; and report defects promptly to your supervisor, withdrawing defective equipment from use immediately.
- Assisting the supervisor in carrying out all hourly, half-daily, daily, weekly and monthly inspections of equipment required by HAS.
- Ensuring that all incidents occurring on site or associated with site activities, including near misses, are reported to the SHEQ Manager.
- Assisting in investigations into instances of the above as required.
- Assisting in audits as directed by the SHEQ Manager and implementing the necessary corrective and preventative actions ascribed to you, arising from audits.
- Reporting concerns regarding health, safety, environment and quality to your Supervisor, Contracts Manager or the SHEQ Manager, and to stop work if there is a serious and imminent risk to your health and safety or the health and safety of others affected by your activities or the environment.
- Setting up and maintenance of asbestos work enclosures.
- Positioning of site equipment, signage, waste routes and transit routes appropriately.
- Working in a way that ensures asbestos exposure is prevented or minimised.
- Handling, packaging and storing asbestos waste appropriately.
- Decontaminating plant and premises.
- Carrying out effective personal decontamination.
- Conforming to health, safety and welfare in the workplace requirements
- Additional general duties either on-site or at the company stores
Essential Criteria
- In date ARCA / UKATA certification training in asbestos removal
- Current in date medical certificate
- Current in date face fit certificates (Half mask and full face)
- Full driving licence
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a removal operative role
You will be required to complete a disclosure CRB check.
Preferred Criteria
- NVQ level 2 and CSCS card is preferred, although not essential
- Any additional training or qualifications would be advantageous.
- The competence to enable, and a driving licence permitting, the towing of a DCU.
- Be able and willing to travel and stay away overnight for occasional periods and work occasional weekends and nightshifts.
Asbestos Removal Trainees
We are also open taking on new operatives with no experience within the industry, but who are willing to undertake any training required.
Job Types: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £100.00-£115.00 per day dependent on experience and is to be discussed with individual candidates.

Successful candidates must have a willingness to learn and possess a drive to undertake training and development courses as required. Ideally you will be literate, practical, in good health, and be willing to travel and stay away overnight for occasional periods.
The Role
With the appropriate training and supervision carry out tasks enabling experience to be gained as you progress to become a fully qualified Asbestos Removal Operative, with the role as described above.
