Training and Development Specialist

Some flexibility to deliver training across shifts where needed

Salary

A bit about us

Love Joes is a family-run food business based in Walsall, West Midlands. We make and supply chicken products to foodservice customers across the UK — over 3,000 tonnes a year and growing.

We’re about 190 people strong, and we’re proud of the fact that over a quarter of our team have been with us for 10 years or more. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people feel part of something here — not just a number on a rota.

We’ve got brothers and sisters working here. Parents and children. Friends who started on the same week and are still here a decade later. That’s the kind of place this is.

What we stand for

Everything we do comes back to four values. They’re not posters on a wall — they’re how we recognise people, how we make decisions, and how we hold ourselves accountable.

Do What You Love — Bring energy and pride to your work. If you care about what you do, it shows.

Exceptional Service — Go the extra step. Whether it’s for a customer or a colleague, do it properly.

Continuous Improvement — Never stop learning. If something can be better, make it better.

Look After Each Other — We’re a team. We look out for each other, on the floor and off it.

The Role & Job Purpose

This is a brand-new role, and an honest one. Our training works, but it's grown up piece by piece over the years and it's spread across a few different people. We want one person to take hold of it — tidy it up, get it into shape, and then build it into something we're genuinely proud of.

So this job is two things at once. In the early days, it's rolling your sleeves up: getting the training matrix straight, chasing down records, moving us onto a new e-learning platform and making sure everyone's certified and up to date. Once that foundation is solid, it opens right up — delivering your own training, spotting the gaps and building new courses to close them, setting up our apprenticeship programme, and shaping how training works at Love Joes for years to come.

If you want a role you can put your stamp on — one that starts with getting the basics right and grows into something much bigger — this is it.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the training matrix and driving every employee to on-time completion of all mandatory training, including e-learning
  • - Planning, scheduling and recording all internal and external training across the business, keeping records accurate and audit-ready- Looking after our external training providers — sourcing them, booking courses like first aid, fire marshal and forklift refreshers, and making sure delivery meets our standards- Delivering People and Health & Safety training and awareness, including inductions for all new starters- Spotting training gaps and creating new training to close them, working with managers to prioritise what matters most- Setting up and running our apprenticeship programme, from finding opportunities to supporting apprentices through to completion- Setting up and managing our new e-learning platform, including moving existing training records across- Tracking first aider and fire marshal certifications and keeping cover rotas up to date across all shifts

*

  • What we’re looking forWe're looking for someone organised, persistent and genuinely good with people. You'll be confident standing up in front of a group, patient with people at every level of English and experience, and the kind of person who chases completion without losing goodwill. You'll ideally have:
  • Experience coordinating or delivering training in a workplace setting
  • - Experience maintaining accurate training records or matrices- Confidence delivering training to groups- Clear, plain-English communication skills- Strong organisation and attention to detail- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365

*

  • It’d be a bonus if you’ve got
  • A training or L&D qualification (Level 3 AET or similar)
  • - IOSH Working Safely or equivalent- Experience in food manufacturing or a similar environment- Experience using an e-learning platform- Experience training groups with mixed language levels

*

  • What you’ll getWe believe in looking after the people who look after the business. Here’s what comes with the role:
  • £30,000 per year
  • - 28 days holiday including bank holidays- Additional day off for your birthday- Loyalty days up to 5 days- Staff discount at the Love Joes Factory Shop- Access to Reward Gateway — discounts, wellbeing tools and more- Employee of the Month recognition programme- Free on-site parking- Company events such as our Summer BBQ and Big Night Out- A brand-new role you can genuinely make your own — starting with getting the basics right and growing from there- A supportive team that will help you grow your career
