Full job description

Location: Old Dalby Business Park, near Melton Mowbray, LE14 3NJ
Salary: £28,000 per year, plus an achievable performance bonus of up to £2,400 annually
Contract: Full-time, permanent – 40 paid hours per week

Who we are:

We are a growing group of exciting outdoor leisure e-commerce brands, including:
FunBikes – The UK’s market leader in quad bikes, dirt bikes, and electric scooters
Dualways – Leading distributors of off-road & road legal vehicles to trade
Bell Tent Boutique – Specialists in luxury camping and outdoor adventure

In short, we sell considerably more exciting things than filing cabinets.

We’re looking for a practical and reliable Assembly Technician to join our Technical Department at our Old Dalby headquarters.

This is primarily an assembly and quality-control role. You’ll build vehicles from boxed components, complete pre-delivery inspections and make sure every product leaves the workshop safely assembled and ready for action.

If you enjoy using tools, solving practical problems and seeing a proper machine at the end of your working day, you’ll fit in nicely.

What We Offer

  • £28,000 annual salary
  • Achievable performance bonus of up to £2,400 per year
  • Permanent, full-time employment
  • 40 paid contracted hours per week
  • Development opportunities in servicing, repairs and diagnostics
  • Support from an experienced technical team
  • Employee discount
  • Free on-site parking
  • A workshop full of quads, dirt bikes and scooters—which beats staring at a photocopier

The performance bonus is based on clear, achievable standards covering the normal requirements of the role, including build quality, productivity and consistency.

In other words, it rewards you for doing the everyday job well. We’re not expecting you to assemble a quad blindfolded while breaking a land-speed record.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assembling quad bikes, dirt bikes and electric scooters from boxed components
  • Following build instructions and established workshop procedures
  • Completing pre-delivery inspections and quality-control checks
  • Identifying and reporting damaged, missing or defective components
  • Carrying out basic adjustments and correcting straightforward assembly issues
  • Ensuring completed products meet our quality and safety standards
  • Keeping your work area clean, organised and safe
  • Working with the technical team to meet daily assembly requirements
  • Learning additional servicing, repair and diagnostic skills as your experience develops

There will be targets to meet, but quality and safety always come first. A quickly assembled quad is no use to anyone if it has a wheel left over.

What You’ll Need

  • Previous hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, vehicle preparation, engineering, manufacturing or a similar practical environment
  • Confidence using common hand and workshop tools
  • Good practical and mechanical ability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Pride in producing safe, high-quality work
  • The ability to follow instructions and established processes
  • A reliable, organised and proactive approach
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An interest in bikes, vehicles or mechanical products
  • A willingness to get your hands dirty—occasionally quite literally

Experience with motorcycles, quad bikes, scooters, bicycles, automotive repair, small engines, agricultural equipment or similar products would be helpful, but product-specific experience is not essential.

If you’re mechanically minded, comfortable with tools and usually the person friends ask to fix things, we’d still like to hear from you.

Working Arrangements

This is an on-site, shift-based position, and some weekend working is required. Additional hours may occasionally be needed during peak periods, with time off in lieu provided in accordance with the employment contract.

Our premises are at Old Dalby Business Park, approximately 15 minutes by car from Melton Mowbray. Public transport in the area is limited, so applicants will normally need reliable personal transport.

The good news is that once you arrive, parking is considerably easier than diagnosing a mysterious electrical fault.

Learn More as You Go

This vacancy is focused on assembly and pre-delivery preparation. However, employees who demonstrate strong mechanical ability, product knowledge and consistently high standards will have opportunities to develop into servicing, repairs and fault diagnosis.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. You do need to care about doing the job properly, be willing to learn and know—or quickly discover—which end of a spanner to hold.

Interested?

Apply with your CV and briefly tell us about your practical or mechanical experience. This could come from employment, engineering, vehicle preparation, manufacturing, repairing machinery or serious hands-on projects.
