Full job description

We are looking for an additional chef to join our busy kitchen

We are happy to take on either a chef who has experience and can bring their own ideas or someone who has a keen interest in the running of a busy kitchen and wants to learn - our current team are adaptable so we can work with varying levels of experience.

We serve food daily with breakfast starting at 10am and serving our main menu all the way through to 9pm during the week and 10pm at the weekend.

Our kitchen team work a mix of shifts, some full days (around 10 hours) and then some half days too (which are around 6 hours) - this gives a better balance for everyone. The earliest start time is 10am and the latest finish would be around 10.30pm

Our core menu is typical pub fayre with Pies, Steaks and Burgers to name a few alongside lots of homemade dishes such as Lasagne, vegetarian curry, and Chilli con Carne. We also have a Specials board that is regularly changed and designed by our Kitchen team so there is plenty of scope for a chef with creative ideas.

The ideal candidate will be used to a fast pace of working and have a 'can do attitude', work well as a team but also be able to work individually. Someone who can prioritise workloads and keep calm when all gets a little hectic!

Main Duties will include

  • Cooking Core menu
  • Cooking of homemade dishes
  • Designing and executing dishes for our Specials board
  • Stock rotation
  • Putting deliveries away
  • Ordering
  • Cleaning
  • Adhering to food safety policies

Experience would be beneficial however, full training will be given

This vacancy is for 35 hours per week (most likely over 4 or 5 days) and will include evenings and weekends - although we do strive to give everyone a Friday, Saturday or Sunday off each week - additional hours often available.
