Job Title: Educational Psychologist

Location: Regional / Homebased – West London

Salary: £55,000 - £63,840 (pro rata) Dependent on experience

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday - Open to part time, days to be agreed.

Role Overview:

The Educational Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological assessments and interventions to children, young people, and adults. This role offers the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including a clinic, mainstream schools, specialist educational settings, and in partnership with local authorities. As an Educational Psychologist, you will have the chance to tailor your work to your areas of expertise and interests, providing both assessment and consultation services across diverse settings. You will be expected to contribute to a range of services, including direct client work, consultation with educational professionals, and offering professional development in schools and local authorities. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the growth of our psychology service within the clinic and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Psychological Assessments: Conduct assessments of cognitive, emotional, and behavioural functioning to identify specific needs and provide recommendations for support.
  • Collaboration with Educational Settings: Work with mainstream schools, special educational needs (SEN) schools, and other educational providers to offer consultation and advice on best practices for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Consultation and Training: Provide guidance to school staff and local authorities regarding educational psychology services, including training workshops, seminars, and tailored advice on best practices for students with additional needs.
  • Partnership with Local Authorities: Work closely with local authorities to contribute to the development of inclusive educational policies and practices, as well as complete assessments as part of the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) process.
  • Research and Evaluation: Stay up to date with current research in the field of educational psychology and contribute to the clinic’s research initiatives.
  • Report Writing and Documentation: Provide detailed, clear, and concise reports for parents, schools, local authorities, and other professionals, ensuring a high standard of communication and professionalism.

Essential Criteria:

  • Doctorate or MSc in Educational Psychology.
  • Registered with the HCPC as qualified Educational Psychologist.
  • Registered with relevant professional body such as the BPS.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, school staff, and local authorities.
  • Knowledge of current legislation, policies, and frameworks related to educational psychology and special educational needs (SEN).

Desirable:

  • At least 1-2 years' experience working as an Educational Psychologist.
  • Knowledge of both mainstream and specialist educational settings.
  • Knowledge of specific interventions for various SEN, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), ADHD, and other learning differences.
  • Knowledge of the delivery of dynamic assessment techniques.
  • Interest or expertise in a particular area, such as mental health, trauma, or learning disabilities.
