About the role
The Assistant Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Manager supports the PBS Manager to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support across the organisation. The post holder will hold a defined caseload of individuals with complex needs, completing functional behaviour assessments, developing PBS plans, and supporting implementation to achieve meaningful outcomes and improved quality of life.
Working as part of the PBS and wider Management team, the Assistant PBS Manager collaborates closely with PBS Leads, Operations Managers and Care and Support Managers to promote a company-wide, PCP PBS and Active Support approach. The post holder will deputise for the PBS Manager and undertake agreed management responsibilities to ensure continuity of clinical leadership and service delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Manage a defined caseload of individuals with complex needs, completing functional behaviour assessments (FBAs), developing function-based PBS plans and proactive strategies, etc.
2. Support the implementation of PBS plans through coaching, modelling, and person-specific training for staff teams, families and other stakeholders.

4. Analyse behavioural data, incident reports and other quality indicators to inform interventions, monitor progress and evaluate outcomes; ensure robust data collection systems are in place for the caseload.
5. Provide support and guidance to PBS Leads and care teams, including debriefs following significant incidents and support with immediate risk management strategies.
6. Support the PBS Manager with the induction/transition of new clients, including initial assessment, stakeholder engagement, and planning for effective implementation.
7. Support the promotion of company-wide PCP, PBS and Active Support approaches, contributing to the development of Capable Environments that enable improved wellbeing and quality of life.
8. Assist with monitoring and reviewing the use of restrictive practices, ensuring reduction plans, recording and review processes are robust and aligned to policy and best practice.
9. Contribute to quality assurance activity, audits and service improvement plans, including preparation of reports and recommendations as required.
10. Provide supervision, mentoring and/or reflective practice sessions to PBS staff as agreed with the PBS Manager and in line with the Supervision Policy.
11. Deputise for the PBS Manager and undertake delegated management duties and responsibilities as agreed. In the absence of the PBS Manager, provide day-to-day leadership and line management oversight of the PBS team (including PBS Leads/Practice Leads), ensuring appropriate allocation of work, supervision arrangements, decision-making and escalation to maintain safe, effective and consistent PBS practice.
12. Maintain the highest standards of record keeping and report writing, including electronic data entry, professional self-governance and GDPR principles.
13. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policy and best practice relating to PBS, autism, learning disabilities and person-centred active support; share learning with colleagues to support service development.
