Role overview

We’re looking for an experienced Head Nurse with strong leadership skills to combine clinical nursing responsibilities with assistant practice management duties. This hybrid role will lead the nursing/clinical team, ensure compliance and clinical governance, and support the Practice Manager with day-to-day business operations.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and mentor the clinical nursing team; manage rotas, training and appraisals

- Provide high-quality clinical support chairside and maintain clinical standards and infection control

- Support the Practice Manager with operational tasks: reception and patient flow, rostering, stock control, invoicing and basic payroll support

- Ensure compliance with CQC, NHS contracts, COSHH, health & safety and safeguarding requirements

- Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality (GDPR)

- Handle patient enquiries and complaints professionally and escalate when needed

- Coordinate audits, clinical governance activities and continuous improvement initiatives

- Provide cover for the Practice Manager as required

Person specification

- Registered Dental Nurse (or equivalent) preferred

- Proven supervisory/leadership experience in a dental practice

- Strong clinical skills and up-to-date knowledge of infection control and dental protocols

- Good administrative skills, IT literate (dental software experience e.g., Dentally, Exact) and basic numeracy

- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities

- Professional, team-oriented and patient-focused approach

- Knowledge of CQC/NHS contractual requirements and audit processes

Pay: From £35,000.00 per year
