About the Employer

We are an established independent auction house specialising in antiques, fine art, memorabilia, collectables and other specialist items, with a strong presence across online and in-person auctions.

The business runs a large programme of regular and specialist sales throughout the year and works with clients and buyers nationally and internationally. The team places a strong emphasis on quality, accuracy, customer service and professional standards.

About the Role

The Photographer will produce high-quality commercial photography to support online and printed auction catalogues, marketing activity and digital platforms.

Working as part of a small team, the role involves photographing high volumes of items to consistent standards and tight deadlines. The apprentice will work across different areas of the business and gain experience in both photography and wider commercial activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality still-life photography for online listings and auction catalogues.
• Maintain consistent, accurate and commercially effective imagery.
• Edit, crop, process and upload images to required specifications.
• Manage an organised workflow to meet regular targets and deadlines.
• Prepare and maintain photography equipment and studio spaces.
• Follow safe working practices and maintain high studio standards.
• Support photography for marketing and editorial content where required.
• Develop knowledge of different types of antiques, art, memorabilia and collectables.
• Support other areas of the business during busy auction periods where required.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable working to deadlines, with a strong eye for detail and an interest in producing photography that accurately represents each item.

The apprenticeship will also provide opportunities to:

• Develop practical Photoshop and image-editing skills.
• Build wider marketing knowledge through an optional Fundamentals of Marketing qualification.
• Gain hands-on experience supporting social media activity.
• Develop an understanding of commercial photography within a busy business environment.

The workplace has limited public transport links, so reliable access to the workplace is important. This could be through driving or an established lift arrangement.

Demonstrable Work

Applicants should be able to provide examples of their photography, whether through a portfolio, previous projects or personal work.

The employer is particularly interested in seeing evidence of an ability to photograph objects clearly and consistently, alongside an understanding of composition, detail and visual presentation.

Additional Information

Previous experience in still-life or commercial product photography, whether amateur or professional, would be beneficial.

An interest in art, antiques, collectables or similar subject areas would be advantageous.

Previous experience in still-life, product or other forms of object-based photography, whether through personal projects, education or professional work, would be beneficial.

Pay: From £18,500.00 per year
